I don’t understand my kids!
Ian is only 5yo and Isabel 3yo. I already think I don’t understand them, I can’t imagine what would it be when they reach their teenage…
You see… I went to Bangkok 2 months ago, and bought this nice dress for Isabel, which I called the ‘princess dress’. I thought she would be very happy seeing this:

She was very excited, waiting for me to show her the ‘gift’ from me… and then she face turned wrinkled upon seeing this dress!! She didn’t even want to try it on. I tried to persuade her to at least try it, to prove to her that it is of good quality and that it won’t make her itchy. She just wouldn’t even give it a try. It is still in the wardrobe, untouched, 100% new!
I also bought this shirt, before I saw the above dress. If I had seen the dress first, I wouldn’t have bought it, coz I thought the dress is nicer. But… Isabel loved this dress so much that she would want to wear it every time it is available!!

As for Ian, I thought he is easy to understand, and easy to buy things for him…
Remember I said that he doesn’t have enough pyjamas, and that I was under pressure to wash them? I finally went to Carrefour to buy. I thought he likes Ben10, wanted to get one for him but couldn’t find. So, I ended up bought this:

And then, my mom saw Ben10 pyjamas in pasar, she bought 1 for him:

He was very excited, waiting for me to wash before he could use them… To my surprise, he wasn’t excited over that Ben10 pyjamas, but the blue one! He wore it once, and then begged me to let him wear it again the following night (which I intended to anyway, to save laundry). He completely ignored the Ben10 pyjamas!!
See, I find my kids are getting harder to guess. LOL! Wait until teenage!

Suzette, I think kids pass 2 year old already got emotion. I remember when i was 6 year old, there were 1 incidence my mum lay out an outfit for me which i didn’t want to wear. She forced me to wear it to dinner.. I end up crying non stop for hours…. IN THE CAR!!!!! So i didn’t go into the dinner at all….. *Pengsan*!!
I dunno what my sons will turn out to be by the time they are Ian and Isabel’s age…
By the way, the princess dress is really really nice……. qualityy looks fanstastic too… make my hearst itch wan to have princess again.. wakakakaka
The princess dress is very nice and I always dreamt to buy similar dress if I had a daughter (I have two sons one 7 years and other 7 months old)
It’s hard to understand kids but here I feel that Isabel liked the other dress because while the princess dress looked plain dress and the other was colorful and had a cute cat on it (that’s from her eyes)…
We feel princess dress was better because we imagine her in the dress and that how nice she would look in it (this is from our eyes). Children lack this imagination power and thus act differently. I think if you can get her to wear the pricess dress and admire here before the mirror she too may start liking it
They are smart kids. Choose comfort over beauty. Haha. Both their choices looks much more comfy. I really love the princess dress though.
she’s got preference and a choice now…not like us kids last time, blur blur wan, we just wear whatever we’re put into, no fuss hahaa.
i think Ian is not crazy over Ben10 anymore… n your gal..i think she prefers shorts/pants to dresses?
Lynette: Ya, I agree with you. They know what they want, and it is hard to change their mind!! Hehehe, get a princess lah! :p
Biannka: I think you are right. I’ve not thought of that angle! I know she always like the cat Marie, and when she was in HK Disneyland earlier this year, she was obsessed with Marie and not others!! She doesn’t like Mickey, she doesn’t like Donald’s, not Pooh, but Marie! And of course the princesses.
Mumsgather: Ya, ya, ya!! Isabel kept saying that the princess dress is itchy (from the look of it only), and refused to try on. However, the Marie shirt is really comfortable. But hor… you know why Ian prefers the blue pj? He said that looks like a track suit, and that he can wear it for jogging!! He has been dreaming of having a track suits! LOL! You can never guess what they had in mind without they tell you hor?
mumzzy: Ya loh, nowadays kids really knows how to choose. In the past we just take whatever given to us hor?
rachel: No wor… he is still crazy over Ben10, and still begged my mom to buy Ben10 pants and shirts. My poor mom, got harassed by him so much, and finally gave in! LOL
The dress is very pretty….is it for sale since your princess doesn’t want to wear it?
buffafly: If there is a taker, yes of course! It is better than leaving it in the wardrobe, everyday hoping she would change her mind. LOL!
How much would you want for it? And what is the length from shoulder to hem?
Sure, it’s frustrating at times when kid seem to react quite the opposite to our expectations, but it’s also fascinating to see how their pesonalities and oppinions develop.
buffafly: sorry for late response! This comment went on to the next page and I didn’t notice it until now. Sorry! Okay, I paid RM45, I will sell it for RM40. The length is 25 inches or 66 cm. Anyone interested that you would know?
Anthony: True. It is really challenging for us to gauge and understand them. Long way to go…
