Got my shampoo delivered

Published by suzette under All,Food/ Shopping

Last night, met with a couple who came back from Singapore for holiday… and got my long-waited hair care!! Dadadada!

Introduce you to my new favourite hair care system, Kerasys!!

Kerasys Shampoo haircare

Cannot be bought here in KL. I think the only place you can buy here is online from Lawyat forum.

It is Korean brand of hair care system. I first tried it in September, when I visited Bangkok. I used my host’s shampoo and it was so so so good, which I couldn’t stop commending it. My friend then told me how famous this brand was, and that people actually went down to Singapore to buy it. Then, she told me they sold it in Carrefour in Bangkok. It was sold like normal shampoo, like Rejoice, Sunsilk, etc. The packaging was a bit like Treseme here.

I bought a set of Balancing Care shampoo and rinse (conditioner). But… my luggage was beyond the allowed weight, I finally didn’t bring them home. I missed it so much!

Piggy heard of this, and somehow through her, we got this couple to help us buy and bring back from Singapore. Even cheaper there!!

In Bangkok, a bottle was around 360 baht (around RM37). I couldn’t remember the weight. I thought it was 1L, but when I saw this 900ml bottle, I now doubt my memory (coz it was much smaller than this 900ml bottle, so maybe it was 750ml??).

This one from Singapore only costs S$10.90 per bottle. That is… maybe around RM25? Definitely less than RM30. And the volume is more.

They kept asking me how good it is… Let me tell you lah!

I permed my hair, coloured it, and then never really take care of it. I never do treatment in saloon, and I never put on any hair mask or whatever hair treatment that you can name of. I just shampoo and condition, that’s it.

So, my hair is practically like weed. Very dry. It entangles all the time. It is impossible to glide my fingers through the strands of hair, especially after a night’s sleep.

But hor… after I just used ONCE, shampoo only, without conditioner, the difference was so significant. I could glide my fingers through without catching any entangled strands. And my hair wasn’t oily (usually if a shampoo gives you that effect it is usually very oily, right?).

When I asked my friends to buy in Singapore, because the packaging was different, and I also couldn’t remember the name, I asked to buy this variant instead “Revitalizing”. Just used it this morning. I hope it helps improve my hair!!

Hmm… not sure if my friend in Bangkok will bring back my 2 bottles, when she returns next month. If so, I will have 4 bottles of 2 variants. Hehehehe… They are precious, all the way bought from overseas.

If you want to know where to get in Singapore, here is the address:

British Essential (S) Pte Ltd
Blk 135, Jurong East St 13
#01-321 SG (600135)
Tel: 65693286

I got the info from the receipt my friends passed me. So, don’t ask me for direction, I won’t know!!

Oh…. Sam & KB, thank you very much for bringing this all the way from Singapore!! Muak, muak, muak!! (ahem, as if they are reading my blog, they don’t even know this blog exists, hahaha!!)

Wheelchairs to give away

Published by suzette under All,Miscellaneous

This is an article in The Star, posted last year. We found a wheelchair for Kartik in Kapar, by contacting the guy in this article. I am afraid The Star archives it after 12 months (which they normally do), and that people who need a wheelchair cannot find this article any more, therefore, I copied and pasted the article here.

The last time Kim spoke to the guy, there are still many wheelchairs to be given away. Furthermore, I have also been contacted by some kind-hearted people who happened to have wheelchair to be given away. Please pass on this article to those who need a wheelchair.

————————
[From The Star]
WHILST many underprivileged disabled children are immobile, one person who has ample supply of wheelchairs is unable to get them off his hands.

Paraplegic Briton George Henry, 57, has been trying to distribute free wheelchairs to those who need them since first coming here in 2005 but there have been no takers.

Henry runs the Hapee World Centre charity in Seremban, a place equipped with disabled-friendly facilities that doubles up as his home.

“I went around in England asking for donations just to get these wheelchairs for those who need them here.

“The disabled, particularly from poor families, are more than welcome to take them away,” he said.

Henry had 30 wheelchairs, including two motorised ones, shipped here two months ago.

Many more: Henry and Lisa with some of the ordinary wheelchairs that they want to give away.
He has passed the word around since the wheelchairs arrived but has not received one call.

“I am giving them away for free because these were donated. Maybe people find this hard to believe. For those who need them, all you need to do is call me,” he said.

Henry estimates the wheelchairs, some new and others second-hand, cost around RM230,000.

The motorised ones which were donated by families who had disabled children in England cost RM80,000 and RM60,000 respectively.

The two wheelchairs which are battery-operated can be adjusted according to the user’s size and weight. It also helps the user to stand up and sit down.

“It would be such a waste if these wheelchairs end up at the scrapyard instead,” he said.

In his effort to reach out to the disabled community, especially the underprivileged, Henry has helped many children here secure the necessary equipment to aid their rehabilitation.

“We recently took one boy back with us to England to be fitted with a prosthetic limb. I am just trying to help out as I understand first hand the problems that the disabled face,” he said.

Henry was instrumental in getting conjoined twins Ahmad and Muhamad Rosli, who were joined at the pelvis, to get separated in Saudi Arabia in 2002.

He has also helped many disabled children here to get prosthetic limbs and walk again.

Not only does Henry have a roomful of wheelchairs, he also has boxes of toys sponsored by toy giant Ty.

“These toys are really expensive. We really want to give them away to needy children,” he said.

Henry can be contacted at 017-376 2178.

My first attempt on enzymes

I read and heard a lot about these fruit enzymes Also garbage enzymes…

Finally, chatted with MSau and searched for the recipe, finally attempted this a week ago.

Actually what prompted me to make it, is a batch of bad apples that I bought from Carrefour. I bought 2 packs of expensive apples (so it is not true that 一分钱一分货), they turned out to be really awful. Not crunchy, not sweet, have bad smell. I think they are too ripened, or going to rot soon. One pack was Fuji Apples, another one was Royal Gala. Both were bad.

Apples

I just couldn’t eat them. Attempted on 2, and had to throw half way. Feel sayang to throw them all away, so I thought maybe can turn it into enzymes. Well, every article tells me that I should us fresh apples… I really don’t know what will happen to mine since my apples are not that fresh nor nice.

I was told to use that 冰片糖, directly translated as “iced sliced sugar”, which I have no idea what they are. I was told not to use white sugar, and I have only these brown sugar at home, so I used it instead. But hor, it makes my bottle looks really black and dirty/dark:

Apple Enzime Day 1

The next day, when I checked the containers, I found that the brown sugar melted and became really dark. Then, the article said, “It is alright to have the whitish stuff on the surface but not good to have blackish stuff”.

Uh oh! How do I differentiate my darkish brown sugar effect with that ‘blackish stuff’ mentioned in the enzyme making process??!! I guess I just take a judgement call, as long as there is nothing fungus like looking stuff, it should be safe to consume gua?

Will update again 2 weeks later, whether it turns out okay or not. So far, it smells really good, but a bit alcoholic though…

Belated Post: My Birthday

Published by suzette under All,Miscellaneous

Last Wed was my birthday, and I took a day off… planned for quite a few things to do, but ended up spent my whole day in the saloon!!

I don’t quite like the way I look in the new hair style. I went in and expected something similar to what I had previously, but I ended up with a different style. The hair stylist said “What’s wrong with that? You look very foxy!”

Ahem! I don’t really understand that term “Foxy”. But I do know almost everyone commented that I look nice in this, except myself. People that I don’t know in the office, came to tell me that my hairstyle is good. Hmm… maybe I have bad taste that I don’t appreciate this? LOL!

Anyway… DH took the first half off, and we had a good breakfast in Coffee Bean nearby. I planned to visit my sister but had to cancel it as my hair-do took me 6 hours to complete!! I read my “Change of Heart (Jodi Picoult) the whole of that 6 hours, and ended up with puffy eyes. LOL!

In the evening, DH came home with 4 small cartons… from Alexis! They are 4 slices of cakes: 2 slices of almond tiramisu (DH highly recommended), a slice of bitter sweet chocolate cake, and a slice of strawberry cheesecake.

3 cakes

I had my candle on the highly recommended tiramisu…

Tiramisu

Aiyoh, these 4 cakes, added up, even more expensive than a whole cake! But they suit the different taste buds in the family. Ian dived into that cheesecake, Isabel practically had the whole choc cake on her own… buried her whole face in the carton! And we adults went for the tiramisu. LOL! Good idea for a family with distinct preference! :)

I have been planning to buy myself a GPS device, since I have to drive a lot in this new job (to meet different clients). There was once I took a taxi to a place in port klang, ended up stranded there, 1 hour post meeting still couldn’t get a cab back!! Been asking DH to help me enquire one, and…

Garmin

Here it is! DH bought it for me as my birthday present!!

Garmin2

We tried using it the first time last Sun (before my BD, an advanced present). Not very satisfied with it. We tried to go to my sister’s house in Sri Kembangan. The routes it showed are not that practical, there are many other alternatives much better than what it showed. Luckily DH knew the general direction to get there. So I lost faith of it.

Then, on Thursday, the day after my birthday, I had to go to a new place on my own (client meeting). I just couldn’t find the place in my Garmin. My colleagues helped me to find also couldn’t… So, I went there based on my general gut feel. I arrived without any issues, but lost further faith on it.

Yesterday, I went to my sister’s house again, relying on it. Again, I had to make a few judgement calls to not follow its direction.

Sam (sister’s hubby) checked my device, and found out that there are too many maps in it, which could cause confusion. He helped me to fix (which I hope really fixed).

I can now find Merchant Square in it! LOL! Nevertheless, it is still a good tool to have. As long as I have the general direction to get near the place, it really can help me with the more refined routes etc. Once, I was stuck in heavy traffic, I switched it on, simply turned into a small route (after checking the map to ensure it is not a deadend), and it led me out of that traffic easily!! My new toy!! Looks like I have many new toys this year. LOL!
