Medicines and YOU

Published by suzette under All,Miscellaneous

The UKM Medical Center will be organizing a counseling week to educate public on medicines and how to manage medicines.

I have read many times, that people stop taking their high-blood-pressure medication, or cholesterol medication, abruptly without consulting their doctors. They do that because they noticed improvements, and they decided to just stop or reduce the dosage. Many resulted in serious impact to their health, and some led to sudden death.

Don’t we always hear so and so suddenly passed away, and he/she was doing well with improved health after the last stroke/heart-attack? And most of the time if you probe further, it is due to them stopped or reduced their medication.

Of course, in the counseling week, the Pharmacy Department would cover more than just what I’ve described.

For more detail, read this:

The Pharmacy Department of UKM Medical Centre will be organizing a “Counseling Week” with the theme “Medicine’s and YOU” as part of its community project to promote healthy living and increase awareness regarding all forms of medicine. Free health screening such as blood pressure, sugar and body fat composition monitoring will be provided on a first-come-first serve basis. Participants will also have the opportunity to seek specialized counseling on medications, smoking cessation and others from on-duty pharmacist, qualified dietitians and experienced physiotherapist. Several interesting public forum has also been lined-up at 11am daily entitled “Know your pharmacist” by Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society (3/8/09), exercise demonstrations for the elderly and tips on losing weight by Physiotherapists (4/8/09), “Know your medicine – your rights as a patient, how to recognize genuine/counterfeit medicine?” by Malaysian Drug Control Authority (5/8/09) and healthy eating habits by Dietitians (6/8/09). All participants are encouraged to bring their medications from home when speaking to pharmacists. Venue is at Main Lobby, UKMMC from 3/8/09– 7/8/09 daily 9am-3pm. God is very lonely?

Published by suzette under All,Ian

The other day, after brushing Ian’s teeth at night, he suddenly told me:

“Mama, God has no friends. He is very lonely, that’s why he created us to be his friends.”

Hmm… no idea what made him thinks that way, maybe because there is only ONE God that we should worship as per the Bible?

I think the way Ian thinks is quite funny, but a lot of revelations.

Below is a video of a little boy who called up a radio station and gave such a moving message when he lost a dear pet. Kids are really amazing. I cried, when they played this in my church few months ago…

Eumora usage update: skin no longer dry/peeling

Published by suzette under All,Eumora

As of yesterday, I was still quite skeptical about Eumora, because of the dryness and peeling on my skin. The only factor that push me using is my mom’s skin improvement. She did not actively talk about Eumora. She never mentioned about Eumora to any of the friends proactively. But her friends noticed her improvement and finally bought the product. Some of her friends have the same effect, and via her friends there were more users…

I wasn’t actively selling the product, mainly because I still have the dryness and peeling. Even yesterday when kiko posted a comment and asked about the side effects, I wasn’t really convinced too and asked her to come back in a week or so, to check out my skin condition.

Surprisingly, today, the dryness and peeling gone! I am hoping that it stays that way. Imagine, since 24 June, it is slightly over a month… I didn’t expect the heeling process takes so long. It took me 1.5 bars to reach this. Not cheap.

But the effect is quite nice. Now, the skin feels very smooth when touched. Err… feels very soft and firm too.

My next test with the product is with my facial lady. I was afraid to see her earlier because of the peeling. I don’t want to end up leaving her saloon with more products… LOL! But now, I am confident to see her. Maybe Friday, depending on appointment availability.

Stay tuned!! I will update what she says. :D

Music lesson is so fun for my kids

Published by suzette under All,Ian,Isabel

My children have been looking forward to their music lessons, every week, every day. I particularly like Yamaha’s lessons for Isabel, 3.5 years old class (can’t remember what they call it).

In that class, it gives us a lot of chance to cultivate music interest as well as develop more bonding between mother and kid.

I think, honestly, I have not been spending enough 1-1 time with Isabel. And what she needs is really that. This music class gives us that exclusive 1-1 for an hour. Well, I know, there are other people around, but there is a lot of focus just between the 2 of us.

The teacher is fun, loving, and very good with children at that age. I like her too!

As for Ian’s class, there is some introduction of musical notes and stuff, a little more instructions and learnings than just playing.

Honestly, I don’t quite enjoy Ian’s class. I tend to get too stressed up with trying to control and discipline Ian. He is more ‘jumpy’, excited, has her own mind and want to explore things at his own pace. Very difficult, because in the class’s setting, listening to instruction is very important. We cannot let 10 children do their own things.

Anyhow, after attending the 3rd lesson, I realize one thing:
My kids cannot sing. Both of them. I think they cannot differentiate Singing, Shouting, and Screaming. Hahahahaha!

Well, when asked to sing aloud, Ian shouted. The teacher has to ask him to “Sing nicely”, “Don’t be so fierce”, “Don’t shout”

Ian is so creative… you know what he sees in notes? For DO (C), i.e. a circle on a horizontal line, he says,

“Mama, this is a stick carrying a barbecue chicken”

Well, in our last lesson, Ian experienced his first difficulties associated with his colorblindness. The whiteboard in the classroom is in green color. At one point, the teacher took out a dark blue market and wrote a line, asking “Can you all see this line?”

Everyone said “yes” except Ian with a very loud “NO!”. The teacher was a little puzzle. I quickly informed her about his colorblindness. After the teacher tried to darken the line, Ian said “Can see a little bit lah!”

Hmm… of all the colors, why use green as the ‘white-board’?!!
