I Hit Isabel
Yesterday after Isabel came home from school, I cooked macaroni at the kitchen, as she requested for it.
In the meantime, I asked maid to help her bathe, so we can speed up the process. Just after a short while, I heard maid begging for something upstairs. Her voice sounded panic.
I went up to have a look, and found out Isabel locked herself in the guest room. I was so furious, because that is against our house rules.
I asked her to open the door, no response. I went down to take the spare keys, tried to open it, but somehow the lock just jammed and I couldn’t open it!!!
I was so scared, because not only she has no response, there was no sound, nothing absolutely!!!
I kept banging the door, begged her to open it. Then demanded her to open it. Still NO SOUND. It lasted for at least 5 minutes with me panic outside like ants in a hot wok.
Eventually I got it opened, and saw her smiling at me, holding Ian’s toys in her hands. She was wearing the kind of ‘winning’ look on her face.
I was so furious, and I caned her many times — which resulted only 1 cane mark, nothing else, surprisingly!
She has acted over my limit, and it is something extremely dangerous. I cannot imagine what if she played at the window and fell out? What if she played with the switches and got electrocuted? This is extremely dangerous game that she was playing.
I hope that, since I don’t usually cane her, and this was a really serious caning session she has ever had, she would remember it and won’t repeat the same.
My heart almost stop beating, when she did that to me…

I can understand your panicky state. If I’m in your shoes, I’ll panic too. And I 100% agree in teaching her a lesson by caning. I’ll do the same too if I’m in your situation.
Gave you a Nuffy s$mile today! Hope you’ll smile back
Hi Suzette, just hop over to say hi, nice blog you have.
I totally understand your panic situation as Ryan has done a similar stunt before, only thing is, he opened the door immediately when I called out.
Not sure what would have happened if he continued to stay in and not make a single sound. I think I would have kicked the door opened!!
Thankfully she is ok. Phew!
I believe your daughter must be as cute as a bonsai, but a nice bonsai has to be shaped in the early stage.
Bel has done a big mistake for challenging her mother this way, a good lesson (like canning) is necessary to prevent some sad cases happen in the future.
I am wondering, besides canning, is there any other punishment or lesson we can teach our children for not doing or repeating some silly stunts like what Isabel had performed?
Alice: What do you mean by nuffy smile? Sorry I think I am very laid back!!
karenyiao: Thanks! Let me hop over to yours in a short while…
Busy Bee: Wow, you also faced the same thing ya??! Maybe we should all remove the locks in all our rooms!
Johnie Bruce: Well, actually I do believe there must be a way, a better way than using cane. I was so mad that I lose control of myself, and this is what worries those that are against caning. When an adult holding a cane, it is so easily getting him/her out of control. I’m glad what I had wasn’t a real cane – it was something softer, that’s why only left 1 small mark. Nevertheless, there must be a way, I just don’t know how and don’t know whether I could do that!
truly understand your situation there…as i read your post, i start to imagine myself in your shoe!..sure scary gila. hope Isabel has learnt her lesson.
My child did and sometime still do the same thing. What I did was telling him there were roach or lizard inside that may crawl out. I works for me !
Renn: Wah! Right! She is very scared of lizards, why I didn’t think of that? I must be very panic!! Thanks for this tips!!
Perhaps should talk to Isabel again & get her to understand & promise not to do it again…
