My children’s reaction after house moving
Whew! After tiring packing for a few weeks, throwing tons of rubbish cummulated in the past years, we finally moved house on Thursday!
I have been very excited about the move although it is so tiring. Things are still in mess in our new house. There are boxes still unpacked, things not bought, etc.
The first night, I used this opportunity to make the kids sleep in a separate room (there wasn’t enough room in our old apartment). Isabel was too tired, slept very fast. But Ian was too excited that he couldn’t sleep. After Bel slept, I left the room. Ian came out a few times asking my whereabout. After a few rounds, he too slept.
Then, I was too tired, slept too deeply, didn’t hear children’s cry at night! :p Luckily DH heard them, went over… No wonder I found him sleeping on the floor in kids’ room in the morning. LOL!
Next day evening, when I fetched kids from MIL’s house…
Isabel saw me turning into new house’s direction, she yell: “Mama! I want to GO HOME!”
I told her that we were going home. She screamed, “No! Go HOME, go to Isabel home!”
After I explained that this is our new home and we cannot go back to the old house, she cried, “I DON’T WANT TO GO HOME…”
Hahahaha! Isabel is so funny! She must have thought that we went for a vaccation and stayed in a ‘resort’ (stranger’s house) for just a night or so. Yup, everytime when we have vaccation, she always asks to go home the next day!
I think Isabel still feel uncomfortable with this house, and mainly because of the fear that she has to sleep by herself (with Ian).
I am writing this post in my kids’ room – Sat 5am! Isabel cried looking for me, woke Ian up. Waiting for them to get back to sleep now. I think Bel is back to sleep, but Ian is still struggling – he is always like that, once wakes up, can hardly go back to sleep.
Yawn! I am so, so, so, sleepy and tired now ler…

Congratulation, moving to a new house!!
To pack things is not that difficult, to unpack is really a problem to me. Wish you luck!! Don’t end up like me, I still have a few
boxes in the store after we have move into your house for a few years. Just don’t know where to put!!
Well, kids can adapt new environment easily.
Congrats on the move. I have also moved into our new house 1 1/2 months ago. Also trying to get the kids to sleep in their own room , but so far have not succeeded. I’m still bunking in the same bed with baby every night and have decided to let my boy sleeps in the girl’s room too. After all, we have been cosleeping for 6/4 years, it will take a while to wean them off into sleeping by themselves.
Congratulations!!! Finally can stay in your dream house
I had headache packing my stuff too before I moved. Now, after 2 weeks moving in, I still have boxes unpacked lying around, very tired to unpack & re-organise the things…
Lucky u, u have a maid to help!
I know how Isabel feels. My wife and I moved into our new home (and new city) about a year ago. It took a couple of months for this new house to start feeling like home.
Congratulations on your move. How exciting but a little bit unsettling too yah. Hope you get all settled down and you get your broadband connection soon.
piggy: thank you! hahaah! I still have a few boxes unpacked. Need to get some new furniture first. I need a very large book case to put up my 4 cartons of books!!!
Elaine: I am so happy I actually succeeded. I will share the story later.
Yiwen: So you moved into the new place too? Good to hear that. Ya, having a maid is so so so different. She is so helpful. I just went out to run some errands (like paying bills and buy lunch and get my phone card changed, etc), then when I was back, she finished cleaning the house and helped unpacked a few cartons already. That really makes a difference.
Cake Pans: Hmm… now you mention it, I think the felling of ‘home’ needs sometimes to be built. But I’m glad she now wants to stay here already. Just need some time.
MG: THank you. Ya, exciting, tiring. LOL! Talking about broadband, so frust!!!
[...] week I wrote about Isabel refused to go ‘home’, and insisted to return to the old [...]
