My Maid Wants To Leave Again
Actually this is not the first time she asked to be sent home. The first time, it was during her 4th month. I was so pissed off, coz if she had asked during the first 3 months, I won’t have to pay the agency fees (but still would cost me close to 2k).
In her first month, I was so dissatisfied with her that MIL and I discussed about sending her back. She guessed it and pleaded to me, with tears, not to send her back.
Finally, we accepted her the way she is, close one eye and survived. Who know, just soon after that ‘warranty period’, she asked to be sent home. I refused, and told her about the contract that she has to work with me for 2 years. She cried and bargained for 1 year. I agreed.
Then, last month (her 6th month), she asked again. I told her that she hasn’t even worked for 6 months, which is the advance salary I have paid through the agency.
Later, she came and told me about bad dreams on my house. She said my house was flooded in her dream, and insisted that she dreamt it many times meaning it will really happen. Come-on! First of all, my house is top floor of an apartment. Secondly, it is in a hill. If my house is flooded, the whole Klang Valley will be summersed in water, and her kampong will be gone.
Then, she told my SIL at my back, about the same dream again. This time, she said that she had the same dream in the past in her kampong (that her house was in water) and it really happened. So, she is convinced that my house will be flooded and she wants to go home, not to be involved in the flood. Of course SIL won’t believe in this.
(well, readers, if in near future you get the news that whole Klang Valley is flooded, then we can call my maid a super hero with super prediction power)
Yesterday morning, she asked me to send her home again. She wants to leave without any salary (just completed her 6 months with her advance salary). I can imagine she is that desperate. I asked if she misses her family, but she denied it.
I gave her permission to call home and receive calls from home. Strange that she never wants to call. Every session is like me forcing her to call home. I really don’t understand her.
I called the agency, and they asked me to send her there today. They hope brainwashing her could help. I am not that convinced.
To me, if she is that desperate, I would rather do this openly, send her home and get another maid. I don’t want her to run away instead, if she is that desperate. Sometimes, I think she has mental problem. Worried she does anything mad to me and my family too…
Let’s see what the agency says this evening…

Yiwen: Ya loh, I am not interested to keep her any longer. I am now contacting my old maid, she wants to be back - I need to find out the process.
She’s so desperate to leave she would even spin up a flood story huh. Better to just let her go then, in this case. There is no point in keeping someone who’s heart and mind is not set to work with you even though you have to suffer some monetary loss. Sigh. The whole system sucks.
