Have difficulties teaching your kids to CIRCLE?
Ouch! My camera is taken away from me for 3 weeks! Well, since April, after coming back from Lijiang, my camera has been having this black spot on the lens. Every picture taken has this black dot. Ya, I know, it happened in April, and I did not do anything until now. The warranty expires just next week, and now only sent in for servicing and repair. Hahahaha! So, for the next 3 weeks, there is no new pictures in this blog.
But then… since I didn’t really blog in the last 2 weeks, I have a lot of back dated posts with lots of pictures. Maybe can last me 3 weeks. Kekekeke!
Here is something to share about Ian. Recently I met up his teacher on parents-teacher days. He got #2 place in class, which is out of my expectation, because he is just so playful, and I never bother with his education. You can call me lousy mother, but I still stand firm that he is only 4 years old and he should be enjoying his childhood instead of burried in exercise books and study, study, study only.
Anyway, back to the teacher. She told me, Ian did very well, but… during exam, he is the slowest to complete (why am I not surprised?!). When the teacher checked his work, found out that he wasted his time, DRAWING on the exam paper. Well, how did he draw? Just look at the aeroplane, wing and tortoise below!

He is supposed to CIRCLE! And this one - kite, helicopter, pear, jelly, and penguin:

And even for Chinese words, he can also DRAW:

So, if you have difficulties teaching your kids to circle, look at mine! Hahahaha!

I love the ways kids think from a way that is really make us think… is the way of our teaching way too straight and kill creativity?
Oh, this is cute!
His work was very “delicate”, look at the outlines at the aeroplane & helipcopter~~~ I’m impressed!
hahaha..that’s not wasting time, but creative ;). I used to do that too
ian is so cute! i agree with jazzmint: he was just trying to be creative, only problem is that i guess he did it at the wrong timing
Hmm.. seems like a perfectionist in the making.
Willing to walk the extra miles. Very interesting boy you have there.
Pin: I once watched a documentary, which did an experiment between African kids and chimpenze. In that program, it revealed that human tend to follow strict instructions whereas chimpenzee gets straight to the reward when they see shortcuts. At first, I thought that shows how silly human is, but later the doctor explains that mimic and follow strict instruction is a very important learning part of human, which passes skills from generation to another. So, on one hand I can’t agree more with you about us killing our children’s creativity, but on the other hand, I also think at their age they need to learn how to follow instruction as well. This is a very interesting topic to debate!
Yiwen: Yes! He is always like that. When he plays ’spot the difference’, he actually not circle the spots, he draw out the missing item. LOL!
Jazzmint:
If done at own time, then is creative, but he did it during exam. Hahaha!
Ai Ling: You are absolutely right. He did it at the wrong timing. Hahahaha!
Lays: Thanks! As his mom, I always think he is very special. :p
