Update: Laptop back to normal
Whew! Finally my laptop is fully functional again, although I spent 4 hours fixing the loose ends till 9pm last night.
The helpdesk is not very helpful. (hmm… why are they called ‘helpdesk’?) They just reformatted the harddisk, installed the OS and basic stuff. Everything else I had to do myself. Well, I am supposed to call the online helpdesk and they should do the rest for me, according to procedure. But since it is after 5pm, the call center is routed to Europe/ME, I know they are the worst bunch. I can do better job than them, so why bother calling?!
I pooled all the essential softwares from the network, added the missing printer driver, and then synchronized. Somewhat, the same error came back - when I disconnected, offline files were missing. So, got to fix it. Luckily been observing how they fixed it in the past (MANY MANY TIMES!), so I did it myself! Took 3 hours to completely scanned & sync my very huge MY DOCUMENT.
Now, the only problem not solved is back to the hibernating issue. I am giving up. Dare not to take the risk for any incompetent support to screw up my laptop again. Mine is not over 4GB in memory, so definitely not the problem Jason suggested.
