I lost my job
Yesterday at 9pm, in a telecon, we were informed that another re-org is under way. This is a large scale re-org, similar to the one 3 years ago.
The worst is, our department is now dissolved. Our boss will also lose his job.
So, this time is for sure. I LOST MY JOB!!!!!!!
I can’t believe it. I can’t believe it. I hope this is just a dream and when I wake up everything is back to normal.
Just 1 year (or 6 months after concluded the last re-org), this one is throwing many of us out of job. I am extremely worried now. I feel like crying, especially when feeling lost, don’t know what to do. Some more, the global economy crisis hasn’t hit our country significantly yet, but the impact will be soon. It coincide with this, I am very worried I will not even find a job outside!
I don’t know. I am just scared. Very scared. The feeling 3 years ago came back to haunt me.

sad to hear that…hope you can go through it…be tough
oh dear…sorry to hear that, suzette. it’s not gonna be a breeze to look for another job especially right now. however, keep ur chin up and i hope u’ll be able to wade through the situation.
I’m sorry to hear that. Are you in the FMCG line?
Hi!Suzette,
Sorry to hear that u hv lost yr job…………trust me, i know how u feel…………my boss also did the same thing to me when he knew i was pregnant with my second child……………i was just 6 mths with the company
Anyway, try jobstreet or jobdb website, i’m also currently looking for a job and i found them to be effective. always hv hope and faith. one door close and another door opens………
this is my first time reading yr blog and i can truly relate to all of yr experiences especially on breastfeeding. i’m facing an uphill battle myself as my relatives has been telling me that i’m not providing enough milk for my 5 mth old baby boy……….yet he is has gain around 5 kgs since birth!!!
take care and i look forward to yr blog everytime i switch on my laptop
Sorry to hear that. I hope everything would be turn out okay for you.
On another note, let me ask someone who might be able or might not help you.
Sorry to hear about this too, Suzette. I wonder if you’ve heard of this company called Acorn Marketing? Or Frank Small & Associates? They are KL-based market research companies, which I’d worked for some time ago.
TNH: Thank you. Sigh! Ya, have to be tough…
Ai Ling: Yup, hard to find jobs outside. I am not optimistic too. I think I have probably 3-5 months to get one before I suffer terrible, financially.
Damien: That’s the problem. I used to be in the agency for 6 years before joining this MNC, and it is not 100% FMCG. My category is probably MMCG (Medium Moving Consumer Goods), if there is such a category! :p Well, the product usage cycle is like 3 months, not as fast as the normal FMCG.
CW: Thanks a lot for dropping by and left a comment. Sure! Will check out the 2. My line is a bit niche, so my hope is not really high. Will probably have to go back to agency side…
Jason: Thank you. Thank you. If you come across some opportunities, please let me know. Thanks a lot!
KittyCat: Thanks for the lead. They were my competitors when I was in agency 5 years ago. FSA is now called TNS (Taylor Nelsen Sofres). Never know you were in MR before! Are you still in this industry?
Dear friend
I suppose your current company will have some release package in place huh?
Don’t worry so much, take your time to look for a new job, & in the meantime, you are paid for the quality family time (& more blogging time!)
hey..so sorry to hear abou this. Hope you will be back on track soon. *hugs*
Yiwen: Thanks. I heard that they follow the standard minimum the government imposed.
wsl: Thanks. Remember we were just talking about my dream plan the other day? Now, my plan is ruined.
Shouldn’t be too complacent in the first place! A good lesson for me.
oh dear, i am so sorry to hear about this.
i hear ACN is hiring, you can check it out.
The yellow man telco is also hiring.
[...] That was before I was informed that I lost my job. [...]
oh dear…this is pretty bad. hope you are OK. Don’t they compensate you or anything? They can’t goreng u overnight rite? All the best with ur job searching
Busy Bee: Thanks for the lead. I think agencies’ doors are always open.
Jazzmint: not sure about the detail yet…
Suzette, so sorry to hear about your job… it’s going to be happening to quite a lot of people soon I think…
Hopefully you can find something soon – there are still companies hiring, but perhaps you will have to go outside your comfort zone and find something completely new? Nowadays have to learn to be flexible in our careers, we don’t have the ‘stay with the same company for decades’ opportunities that our parents’ generation had – it’s a totally different world.

Sad to hear that, hope you get well soon!
It is very sad to hear this news as well – I hope you will get a job out there very soon. I am worried too – today is my last day with my current company and I will soon embark on a different route …excited, scared mix emotions as I am not sure what to expect with current economy downturn. Anyway, Suzette you are someone who is capable I am sure things will definitely be brighther! Cheers!
