Girls really like ‘mei-mei’

Published by suzette at 9:34 pm under All,Isabel

This never happened to our first child, Ian, perhaps because he is a boy. Girl is really different. Isabel is only 2 years old and already know what is ‘mei-mei’ (beautiful) and would request us to dress her up and to make her looks good.

For example, after watching Barbie in Rappunzel animation, every morning she would request us to make her Rappunzel, i.e. to tie her hair nicely!

2 weeks ago, she was supposed to go into the room to get her bike out… As I was wondering what took her so long, she came out happily shouting to her dad: “DADDY! You see, I mei-mei (beautiful)”

Guess what? She took my lipliner and drew on her face!

draw face

Can’t believe it! 2 years old only, and already wants cosmetics! LOL! I can foresee more to come. Have to watch out my eye shadows, lipsticks, perfumes, etc. :D

      haha…don’t worry…..

it’s normal to start young……my girl started with lipsticks when she was 2 years old..

Now at 4 years old, she is into body tattoo and nail polish. She just asked her auntie to paint her finger nails pink yesterday……hehe………..

jazzmint: you are right, I think she tried to copy me. LOL! She also puts lotions on her face, telling me she ‘mei-mei’. :)

Ann: Hey! First comment from you! ;) Thanks!!
Oohhh, lipsticks at 2 yo! Hahaha! She always wanted but I tried not to give yet. :p Afraid she swallows. Hahaha! But you are right, she also very curious on my toe nails art now… soon… very soon… she will be asking for the same. I think she once took the magic pen to draw on it, but I didn’t take photo. :D

kids learn through observation and they pick up things very fast these days. my elder kid who is 6 would sometimes comment on the colour of my lipstick: mommy, your lipstick is too light / bright for you :) )

While it’s true that kids learn by immitating what elders do, we shouldn’t forget that time has evolved too. The type of food they eat, and the amount of exposure they get all affect their cognitive levels. Thus, the kind of things they immitate would also evolve, AND the type of comments about your dress code or make-up (innocently doing so) – often embarrassingly in front of others – is an indication of that evolution. A few months down the road, your 6-year-old kids will tell you, “mom, you’re one helluva blogger” – or it’s already happening now :)

ai-ling: :) actually this is one of the benefit of having a daughter, right? I was hoping to go shopping and facial and spa with my daughter… ahem! if she doesn’t reject me joining! :p

honghong: HAHAHAHAHA! This is so wicked but funny! I can imagine my son doing this on my daughter, just like how you did on your sister. LOL!

Kev: You are right. The kids nowadays are so smart, much smarter than our era! Agree with you fully. About the last part… :p thanks! but my kids are too young to know the significance yet. LOL! (they are 2 and 4 yo)
