Why so quiet?
If you follow my blog, you will know that I had not updated it for a few days since Friday, and I used to do daily update. Well, if I had not prepared more scheduled posts 2 weeks ago, this blog would have no update for about 2 weeks!
The reason is that, my laptop CRASHED!!
Okay, here is what happened. My laptop is 3.5 years old. It is due to be refreshed (the term used to replace with a new one) Jan’09. It has been giving me weird problems in the last 3 months. I just couldn’t connect to the web, not to say remote access our intranet or emails.
Helpdesk have been trying to fix this for 3 months without avail. It has been escalated to 2nd level, who then escalated to this hardware unit 2 weeks ago.
This division took my laptop last Monday, changed its motherboard 3 times, in the process the screen damaged, the button board gone too, and finally even the tiny screw also broken.
They returned my laptop on Wed, and it took me 2 hours to boot. Opening an email with attachment of 1MB can take 20 mins.
They took it back suspecting harddisk failure.
My boss asked me to request a refresh, but the budget holder disapproved it as we have extended warranty. They said, change everything until it works, won’t refresh even if it is 1 day earlier!!!!
Okay, now they have my laptop, on Thu they changed a new harddisk, but took the whole day installing software and not completed, where usually only takes 2.5 hours. It is THAT slow.
On Friday, the guy supported me was on emergency leave as some one in his family passed away! How ‘lucky’ I am, right?
Until now, I haven’t got it back yet. They gave me a loan unit, of course, but I wasted so much time.
By right, I should be in Jakarta now to give 3 workshops, and I had to postpone. Not only because of no laptop, I also failed to prepare my material on time!
I have another 3 presentations webcasts this week to China, 2 next week, 1 week after. Nothing was prepared yet. You think I nervous or not? If I say no, I’m sure the hell lying to you!
Pray for me, not about my laptop, but pray for smooth report delivery in this next few weeks!

I hate to say it but I have had many problems with my PC’s… crashing, hard-drives breaking, since ive had my mac i havent had any of those problems…
They are not as savvy for programming, but i think for what we are doing they work great.

Michael: Wow Mac, envy you! I can’t get rid of my 3.5 years old laptop. They will only refresh it after another 6 months. * sigh *
aiyu: You better. I am not worried about the stuff inside, coz there is always a mirro copy in the server, but more so of frustrations on the speed, and unable to connect!
That is life… One day you have a full day off, another day you have a ton of works to do, and I will face ‘two crazy weeks’ beginning on next Sunday…
Did you manage to do those 3 presentations ?

nizhama: Ya, you are right. Life - sometimes up, sometimes down. Just hope these crazy period will be over soon.
treadmill: Nope, I postponed them to next month, coz by then my laptop is still with the ‘doctor’. LOL! The model I use is very old, already 4 years old: compaq nc4010. I don’t blame the brand, but its age. LOL!
