Ian’s Song

Published by suzette under All, Ian

Lately wrote a few posts about nursery rhymes. Hope you don’t get bored about this! :p

Most people have a 成名曲 (popular song). Ian’s song is ABC (alphabet song). I think this is the song he first mastered, and then whenever he was asked to sing a song, he would definitely sing it - EVERYTIME, without fail!

Last year during the mid autumn festival, he was asked to sing on the stage (in his school, adhoc request), he went up and sang this song as well. Now, if you ask him, what is Ian’s song? He would answer ‘ABC!’. :)

Funny Kid’s Talk

Published by suzette under All, Ian, Isabel

Here are a few more funny things that my kids say recently…
————
One morning, Ian woke up and told me, “Mama, I had morning-mare!”
:D Still don’t get it? That ‘morning-mare’ is derived from ‘nightmare’!

————
One day, Ian touched my arm pit and I pushed his hand away, at the same time saying, “Hey! Cannot touch here!”
He asked me why, without thinking much I said, “Here is private, cannot simply touch other people’s arm pit.”
He then said to himself, “Oh, so I must ask first…” then…
“Mama, can I TOUCH YOUR PRIVATE PART?”
HAhahahaha!

————
Lately Isabel likes to use ‘because’ a lot. Below are a few sentences she likes to say:
“I don’t know, because I don’t know.”
“I cannot, because I cannot.”
“I don’t want, because I don’t want.”

————
Yesterday she saw a bald tree, with all the leaves gone. She asked, “Mama, why this leave finish already?”

Little talented actress

Published by suzette under All, Isabel

I was crazy on the Disney’s animations, and bought quite a lot end of last year. Slowly, I introduced one by one to my kids. Few months ago, I showed them Dumbo. It took them only twice to get hooked with the song, Baby Mind.

One night, I hold Isabel in my arms and sang this song. Suddenly, she took a few deep breath, her nose was red, and there came a few tear drops!

Child Proofing Ideas Wanted

Published by suzette under All, Parenting

I have been looking for ideas to child-proof our windows but scratched our heads couldn’t find a solution. Wonder if any of you have experience in this?

Our windows are push-out type, with metal frames. I have been searching everywhere, found a lot of useful solutions BUT not for our window type. The USA has a lot of safety gadgets, but because they mostly use ‘double hung’ windows, i.e. sliding upwards, so all useless to ours. :(

Saw from a forum, someone suggested using the deat-bolt chains (like our doors), which I think is super brilliant. Later, realized that our window frames are metal, so cannot screw the chains in. Another disappointment.

I don’t want to install permanent fixture, because worry of emergency cases like fire escape route can be blocked. Any ideas or experience would be very much appreciated!

Blinking-Blinking Song

Published by suzette under All, Isabel, Parenting

Isabel is somewhat slower than Ian in picking up songs, but that doesn’t she didn’t pay attention to songs! She has surprised us recently…

Out of sudden, she has been singing a LOT of songs by herself, though sometimes out of tune and lyrics. She has been singing all sorts of English and Chinese songs. I have been assuming she picked those up in MIL’s house (thought she let her watch the VCDs). Then, last week found out that MIL assumed the same - she thought I have been singing those songs to Isabel!

Her favourite song is Twinkle-Twinkle Little Star, which she calls it Blinking-Blinking Song. :D What a ‘nice’ name she gave it. LOL!

Look, she has been singing songs that we don’t sing often and or hear/plan often - perhaps once a few months ago? I think she has elephant memory - recorded them first, and now only playing out by singing out loud. Hahahaha!
