Silly things that maids do
Sometimes the Indonesian maids can be helpful to you, but they can sometimes drive you nuts. Here are some examples of what my auntie’s maid did, really want to make you vomit blood. I just pray that my new maid is not that bad!
Ironing Without Electric
I think she must be wondering why these city people asking her to put that device on the clothes. It must be her first time seeing an iron! She just ‘ironed’ the clothes without plugging the electric socket into the outlet. After ‘ironing’ a solid 4 hours, she declared task completed, and my aunt saw the clothes were still creased. Then only realized her mistake.
No Brainer in Keys
This maid is very strong, physically but not mentally, I have to say. She used a key to open a lock. Apparently the key is not for that lock, but she kept on turning until the key broke – with the key stuck inside the lock. So, there is no way to unlock it any more!
Laundry Idiot
This is my colleague’s maid. After washing the clothes, during rinsing, what she did was picking the clothes from the soap water, put into another pail of water, and lift it up –> THAT’s IT! No rubbing, no rinsing action! The clothes were still soaked in soapy water!
And when she hang the clothes, she just put them on the rack – without even opening them up, the clothes were still wrapped in a bunch! (if you know what I mean!)
These 3 examples are just silly things that only reveals their lack of education or exposure to modern lifestyle. And there are more that I know, which they did those intentionally, just want to get away from doing tasks.
I am very worried what kind of maid I’m going to get this time! God, please give me a good one… plllleeeeeaaasssseee.

I hope I get a good one too but at least I have the “luxury” of being there to show her how to do some of the household tasks myself.
haha, really silly. maybe u can get a Philippines maid, sud be better.
Aiyoh..!! not only the maids. can be silly lor.. our ex-employees.. were bad too..!
All those 3 things happened to me too. I tend to think 99 maids out of 100 maids are like that. They dump clothes in only a quarter full of water, then straightaway lift them out from soap water without rinsing off and hand without squeezing the “soap” water out. It makes one wonder how they survive to live this long in their own kampung
Pay peanuts, get monkeys.
Maybe they do it on purpose. Plain laziness
MG: Are you going to get one soon? Being around is better, at least she won’t have the chance to abuse your kids – that’s what I worried most.
irenelim: Guess so. Philippines maids are usually higher educated, but they have other issues too… :p
MamaBok: Ya, I read from your blog, really can vomit blood. LOL!
allthings purple: Wow! ALL 3??!! The key thingy also? I thought that one was too ‘good’ to believe. Well, I think they don’t wash clothes in their kampong that’s why they don’t know how to do that here. LOL!
shag: Hey, peanuts? You know how much we have to pay a month? Including meals, accommodations, clothes, underwears, personal care, toiletries, etc, it is around RM1000 per month ler. But if you compare this with other nationalities, well we get monkeys, your are right.
Dom: Good thought. We suspected that too! especially the part on the laundry and ironing. They can pretend not knowing how to do, so we will do it ourselves? So, they probably not silly, but smart!
Maids do silly and funny things… it really depends on luck to get a good one. I promise the sixth is going to be last maid in my life *hahaha*
