Galveston Island, Houston
Finally, the long planned US trip is here! I’m now in Galveston Island, Houston. This time, the team managed to get away from the city and we are in a resort island out of Houston.
I arrived on Saturday and meeting started on Monday. I have been wanted to enjoy the place on Sunday, since I had whole full day free. Unfortunately it rained the whole day!

Look at the sky. It was just after my breakfast and it was raining. Otherwise, the beach is just in front of the hotel…

The hotel that I stay in is a heritage building, built on the sea wall. However, inside, I don’t feel any thing like heritage building at all (unlike the motel in Lijiang!).
The rain finally stopped at 5pm. I took a short walk along the beach in front of the hotel.

The beach is unlike the ones in our Malaysian islands. The sand is brown in colour, similar to those types in PD.

However, look at the sign below!

Their government actually check the bacteria level of their sea water, have signs set up to indicate the level of bacteria. So, it is quite safe swimming in this water. In fact, a lot safer than in PD!! I remember a few years ago, I went to PD and a friend splashed some seawater on me. Immediately I had very bad rashes developed! Imagine how bad the water is!

Their beaches are full with life guards watching over the beach. * sigh! * Look at our PD…!

They have lots of sunbathing chairs provided (not by the hotel!). But due to rainy day, none was being used!
BTW, I wanted to get an ocean view room, but forgot to mention during booking, so got an ugly parking lot view room (they call it city view!). According to the locals, it only worth if I get the ocean view. Hmm… bad planning! It wasn’t available now…

nice post.i love the island too much. specially the beach.
Been ages since I was in PD. I remember some of the hotels had channels of “water” directly into the sea. Your guess is as good as mine what they are channelling…
FuBball Gewinnspiel: Thanks! Are you from Houston as well?
EMYYL: Ya! Give me 5! I was telling my colleagues too, about this ‘channels’. In this island, they did the opposite. The channel the waste OUT to the main sewage system. Lots to learn for Malaysia government ler… :p
