CCTV Camera Required
I remember sometime ago, there was a video posted in YouTube by a Singaporean parents, after ‘catching’ their maid abusing their kids in their nanny camera.
I read that the video was quite popular after that news was released, but I couldn’t find the said video. Instead, I found quite many disturbing child-abuse videos, all captured using hidden cameras, like this one.
It is scary, isn’t it? As I have to rely on maid to help at home, when I’m away at work, I have put CCTV as one of the priority that I must install in my new home. Right now, I’m glad my mom and MIL were able to help. I really pity those little babies… Imagine, if this video’s owner didn’t put a CCTV and allow this to continue… ![]()

Hearing about/seeing child abuse makes me sick, and makes me feel justified for keeping my daughter home with me!
That makes me sick to my stomach - I almost couldn’t finish watching it knowing that the poor little child is so helpless!
Just three weeks ago when I scrutinized my cctv, I saw how my maid has been pulling and jerking my 3 1/2 year old son roughly when he reluctant to take bath. I feel so guilty i almost give up my job. Sigh.. if only I can afford to be SAHM… and yes, i have sent the maid back to the agent!
Nissa: You are lucky to be able to stay with your daughter.
I have to work in the day, and this really worries me. Why would they do this??!!!
Tyler: * sigh * This is considered an okay video, at least there is no bleeding or serious injuries. When I searched in YouTube, there were many that I dare not to click ‘play’, coz I don’t think I can watch those violence and hear the sound. Why would people do this to helpless little kids? Sigh!
Renn: I’m so sorry to hear that! Your child is at the same age my Ian. How long has she been with you? Luckily you checked the recording! That makes me even more determined to install one for my house. This is so scary!
I don’t think a CCTV is needed unless there are signs of abuse at home if parents are observant enough. CCTVs are just a double-checking device to see if such abuse actually occurred.
Just hope that you don’t get overly paranoid about maids in particular, not all maids are that evil. (:
Living in Melaka, life’s not as hectic as Singapore. Having a maid is more a luxury than a necessity, one which I don’t find the need to indulge in at the moment. But that does not relieve the fear we have here for our children.
What we have to be afraid of here is the recent increase of kidnapping that’s been going on for the past couple of months.
Don’t you just wish it were like the days of our childhood? Remember how we could roam free around our ‘kampung’ the whole day and the only thing we had to fear was the spanking we’d get for stealing mangoes.
I had the maid for 3 months. For first 2 months she was good. By third month I started to see more of her true self! When I asked my son if kakak hurt you, he said kakak pinched his private part when bathing him. sigh….
cherry: Well, guess I was lucky the first time. I THINK my previous maid was a good one, and I THINK she trully loves my children and a gentle type. But sometimes we can’t be certain too. I have a friend who felt the same for her maid, and she fully trusted her. Their camera was setup long before they had the maid. One day, the husband suggested to check the records, and found something in horror — not the abuse of their kids, but the maid added something to their drinking water and food - bet you can imagine what was added. It was so disgusting that they vomitted after seeing the recording. So, conclusion is, outsider is still not to be trusted fully. :p
Tim: Ya, I also miss those days… Mangoes, rambutans, canned drinks, whatever you can name it! LOL! Playing around the neighbourhood was so safe last time. Now? Even in a proper playground you’d worry they get abducted. I pray for those victims - may they not suffer much…
Renn: What? When did you ask him? Before or after you discover that recording? That’s why can’t trust the maids too much, isn’t it? Continue to monitor your new maid (if you get one)! I will do the same!
No matter how good is the maid, never fully trust them. According to the maid that I had sent back to agent, my old maid, who had work for me for 3 yrs and gone home 2 month ago (I hired a new maid one month before the old one gone home), the old maid taught her how to ‘ajar’ my son as long as ‘jangan tinggalkan bekas!’ So you can imagine my guilt! Don’t know how long his private part has been pinched!
Renn: They are smart. My aunt’s maid worked for 3 or 4 years (Philipino). After she left, my aunt bathed her son and found bruises which she couldn’t believe — all well covered in clothes. That’s why I insist I bath the children myself whenever I’m at home. But in your case, private part - as long as not badly injured, is hard to detect. Don’t feel too bad about this, coz there is no way for your to detect this without the use of CCTV and/or your child’s complaint.
BTW, how come you can get a maid before the old one left? My agency (and proven later when we met with the imigresen officer) told us that the new maid application can only be started, 1 month prior to the old maid’s departure, with prove of flight ticket. And it took nearly 2 months already since we ’started’ - well actually we started since Jan, but delayed till 1 month ago. Now, still no maid!
This is the trick taught by the agent. I hope I won’t get into trouble here : )
The application is for taking care of the elderly. So I get a doctor’s letter to verify that my MIL has rheumatism (which she has). However, I need to pay extra RM160 levy on top of the normal levy for the 2nd maid.
Hi Suzette,
Came via BE Rocket and this is not my first time here although it is my first to comment.
Wow, this video is really scary and to know that there are some maids who actually do this to their charges is really disheartening. I do think CCTV are really necessarily nowadays when leaving maids behind alone with your kids.
Better to be safe then sorry lah
Have a great weekend

Renn: Thanks for the tips. No wonder the agency asked us whether we have elderly at home!
LadyJava: Thanks a lot for visiting and left a comment here. Love comments!!! :p
You too, have a great weekend!
Yup, it is really scary, especially hearing the child’s cry. Feel so sad for the kid, but I’m sure whoever filmed it would have stopped the maid. That’s why CCTV is so useful.
