Finally! Got a suitable writing table!
It took us 3 visits to IKEA, 1 visit each to TESCO, CARREFOUR and JUSCO, to finally decide and settle with what we have now.
We always wanted to buy a writing table for the kids, so that they won’t have to crouch on the floor to write. Currently they either write on the floor, or at the dining table that is too high for them.
So, when we decided to buy the writing table, we went to IKEA first (2 or 3 weeks ago, before the sales started). We bought the MAMMUT square table (round tableis too big for our tiny apartment). The problem was, we prefer blue but only red available. We still bought it, but didn’t like it that we didn’t even assemble it.

(Don’t have the photo of the square table. This is the round one to give an idea…)
One good thing about IKEA that we like most is its return policy. When you don’t like, you can return, and no questions asked.
The issue is, if we return, what would we want? DH went to Carrefour, found one that he liked but out of stock. Went to Jusco and TESCO, nothing picked up his interest.
So, DH returned the IKEA’s MAMMUT table on Saturday and bought another table. When I saw it, I pointed out a few mistakes. First, it was a coffee table, way too low for the kids, they might hunch their backs! Second, the lower deck (for storing newspapers/magazines) prevent them from sitting properly as they can’t insert their legs below the table.
DH went back again on Sunday morning, and finally we settled with this KRITTER table (RM125).

As for the chairs… In our first trip there, we first looked at the MAMMUT chair, to match with the table. But we agreed it feels unstable, and too expensive (RM59).

We then found MAMMUT stools, and thought the value is good. RM19.90 and they feel sturdy even with adult’s weight!

But again we had colour issues. Red was out of stock; only this green was available. It just can’t match with the red table, so we’ve decided to source elsewhere.
When DH revisited IKEA the 2nd time, they have baby-blue and baby-pink. DH bought two baby-blue stools with the coffee table.
When he returned the coffee table, he kept the blue stools, so we ended up have this combination:

I thought the pink ones would match the table’s colour better, but DH thought Ian is a boy and boy shouldn’t use anything PINK! Stereotype!
Anyway, I want to ask him later, why wouldn’t he consider the KRITTEN chair? It matches best. Maybe the price. KRITTEN is RM55 each. Buying two, can buy 5 of the current stools!

Anyway, what’s the kids’ reactions? They are really easy to get excited. Seeing the stools already made them grin all day. Ian’s mouth was smiling from one ear to another, and I wonder would it cut her face into two! When the table arrived and set up, he was so happy that he used it all the time. The moment he woke up, when he sees the table, he’d rush for it! Let’s see how long this would last. LOL!
