Want pretty, not life

Published by suzette under All,Miscellaneous

There is a saying in Chinese: want to be beautiful, never mind if die. 要美不要命

Montessorimom wrote about a datin who went into coma after a plastic surgery.

Ironically, my friend’s mom died after she went through a plastic surgery too. It happened many years ago, when we were F4/F5. I still remember going to her funeral with my schoolmate.

My friend’s mom actually went to do a facelift, i.e. pulling the facial skin. We thought it was the anesthetic that whe never woke up after that.

So, do you want to be beautiful, more than your own life? Some people do, but not me – maybe because I am not beaufitul, nothing to lose with age. :P

Thr3e by Ted Dekker

Published by suzette under All,Book

This is one of the books that I couldn’t put down once started. I stayed up last night till 2am, as it was really engaging. BTW, this refers to the paperback version – can’t do this kind of extended reading with audiobook though, as I only listen when driving. :)

I bought this from Amazon.com because I couldn’t get it in KL. There were only 3 copies in MPH and they were sold out. I bought it together with the other set of Ted Dekker’s audiobooks, which I nearly lost the parcel!

Stupid gift giving culture during CNY

Published by suzette under All,Miscellaneous

I always feel awkward when people come visiting me during CNY, and bring along a hamper or goody bag. After I moved out and have my own family, I learnt that I am expected to return something.

My first year after married, I didn’t prepare with anything to return. I must be seen as rude.

The next year, MIL was very thoughtful, she prepared a package for me.

Then, the stupid ‘game’ started. ‘A’ came visiting, with package A. I returned with MIL’s package. Then ‘B’ came with package B, I returned with package A. ‘C’ came with package C, I returned with package B, and it went on.

Ah-ther, ah-ther and ah-ther

Published by suzette under All,Isabel

Isabel is so lazy in correcting her speech. I think she is lazy, not incapable of pronouncing correctly.

Yesterday when I came back from Jakarta, as expected she was glued to me the whole evening. She took a book for me to read with her. That’s a kindergarten’s book 2, with the first page teaching: Mother, Father, Brother and Sister.

When I read with her, they all became Ah-ther!

She just substituted every thing in the beginning to ‘Ah’, as usual.

The most effective way to clean your pump

If you are a breastfeeding mom who use a breast pump, do you notice white deposits left on the inside surface of the pump and bottles?

This white deposit is very difficult to get rid of. It is actually the fat component of our breast milk, which sticks so hard on the surface and forms a white layers when dry. No brush or cloth can wipe it off, unless you scrape it. But once scraped too much, it forms scratches!

Strange that not everyone has this problem, but I know I’m not alone in this. At least SF, my BFG buddy, also faced the same. Through her, I learnt how to clean my pump most effectively.

The only answer I found is in Medela Quick Clean Wipes.
