Wrapping new books before reading
I have the habit of wrapping my new books before reading them. This is to protect my books from creases and spine damage. I love my books and I want to take good care of them!
Since I was a kid, I’ve already mastered wrapping books without using any adhesive tapes. They look great in their plastic ‘jackets’.
Here is how I wrap them:
First, cut the plastic wrapper with at least 1.5 inch above and below the edge of the books, no need to cut the other side, but if it is longer than the width of the book, then you got to get rid of a few inches.

Then near the two ends of the book, cut the plastic all the way to touch the book:

Fold the plastics inward so that it can go behind the spines.

Here is the completed one:

It is really proven to reduce creases on cover and spines, as well as prevent dog ears. It also protects your books from water and stains on the cover. My books are all look like new ones, except those that I read in a plane – somewhat the humidity in planes tend to ruin the books worse than other situations!

Same as i last time at secondary school wrap the book like that.
Merry X’mas and Happy Holiday to you and your family.
Amidst all presents wrapping I stumble on post about wrapping books. Must admit I never bothered with that, guess that’s why my books look… well they don’t look like they’re new to say the least. Anyway nice post(liked pictures especially, looks like real tutorial).
1+2 mom: Hi! Thanks for the holiday wishes!
Vinston: Thanks for visiting and dropping a comment. Hehe, those photos are quite difficult to take, coz I needed my both hands to demonstrate (especially the one with scissor)!
Aiyoh..!! i never wrap my books one..
unless they are like ready to slip on types..
see lah.. how lazy i am..
wah! I finally found one person who shares the same thing I do – wrapping books!
Hubby thinks I am crazy and my bro thinks I am too free.
But I like to wrap them seeing that they are very precious to me – they cost too much and also the knowledge/ read is really priceless.
Lately I even wrap Ryan’s sticker books!
mamabok:
you are the typical type lah, not lazy… we are mah fan type.
busy bee: Hahaha! Actually come to think of it, it is really troublesome. Sometimes I bought a book, but ran out of wrappers, I have to delay my reading of that book! Anyway, lately I bought a lot of books from eBay, and they arrived together – batch of 40-50 books (lost count). They are used books, and some already got spine crease or cover crease. For these, I lazy to wrap already ler… too many, and pointless since they already creased.
Sticker books? You are crazy… LOL!
