Letter to our children (for future)

Published by suzette under All, Ian, Isabel, Mumbles, Parenting

My mom received a leaflet one morning when she went to the market. To be exact, the leaflet was a photocopied A4 printout.

She showed me, and kept metioning the content many times. Yes, it is very touching, and I guess my mom is trying to tell me the same thing.

I am re-typing them here, to share with all who have an elderly at home, and for my children to read them when they grow up (and I grow old) later. Hence, the category also include Ian and Isabel…

Sorry, this ‘letter’ is in Chinese. May I recommend Google’s translator if you can’t read them?

当我老了, 不再是原来的我
请理解我, 对我有一点耐心

当我把菜汤洒到衣服上时, 当我忘记怎样系鞋带时
请想一想, 当初我是如何牵着你的手教你

Isabel and Julia

Published by suzette under All, Isabel

In total, Isabel received 4 Christmas presents - one from me, one from DH’s sister, one from my sister, and one from “Santa Claus”.

The one from me is the smallest one, containing 4 packs of hair deco, which I could just give her without wrapping and without reasons.

The one from Santa Claus is the biggest, i.e. the soft toy Julia.

Somewhat, my two children are not the type who prefer BIG gifts. If you let them choose between two wrapped gifts, they normally would go with the smaller one.

No exception in this case for Isabel. She kept bugging us to open the smallest gift that I gave her, but ignored the one from Santa. When we asked her to bring it to open, she pushed it away.

Ian got his bike from Santa

Published by suzette under All, Ian, Isabel, Mumbles

On the Christmas Eve, after coming back from church, I prepared the kids to sleep whilst DH went over to my mom’s house to get the hidden bicycle.

Christmas morning, the first thing after Ian woke up, he asked to go out to see whether Santa Claus left him a gift or not, and he got so happy when he saw the bike under the Christmas tree!

unopened gifts

He couldn’t hide his smile the whole day, thinking of his new bicycle. :)

X’mas Malls

Published by suzette under All, Mumbles

Last weekend, i.e. the 2 days before Christmas Eve, we took the children to the malls nearby for them to feel the X’mas mood.

In between The Curve and Ikano, we all like the Curve better. It is more beautiful and lots of things to see. With 2 snowman and a few deers, a stage inside a wooden house, and lots of beautifully decorated Christmas trees. My kids didn’t want to leave the place!

Fungus grown muffin before expired

Published by suzette under All, Mumbles

DH bought 2 chocolate muffins from K**g’s Confectioneries on 18 Dec. These muffins are with expiry dates 26 Dec 2007 printed on the packaging.

On 19 Dec morning, I opened one for Ian. Luckily I took a closer look before Ian started eating - there were 4 light white dots. Fungus started growing on it. Another one was okay, which I let Ian ate (hmm… come to think of it, maybe I shouldn’t have!).

The next day was a public holiday, DH took the ‘infected’ muffin to the K**g’s outlet for exchange.

Guess what? It took DH a d*mn long time to get it exchanged. They questioned him like the muffin was stolen like that. They wanted to take down his name and phone numbers, instead of offering the exchange straight away. We weren’t asking for a refund, we just wanted an apple-to-apple exchange!

Finally, after long arguements, they let DH take another muffin. This one, expiry dated 24 Dec 2007.

The next morning, i.e. 21 Dec 2007, I took it out for Ian’s breakfast, and… See for yourself:

And here is the expiry date enlarged:
