Our first Christmas tree
Last year we tried to buy a Christmas tree too late - on the 23rd Dec, all were left overs and not in good condition, so we ended up bought nothing.
This year, we bought our Christmas tree earlier, on 1 Dec. We first tried getting on 24 Nov, but couldn’t decided due to the price.
We finally bought our first every tree from IKEA. They are selling at very reasonable price. A 6 feet tall (artificial) Christmas tree only costs RM59. As compared to other stores would charge a few hundreds, this is very cheap.
We got the decoratives from IKEA as well, only RM29 a box of 48 pieces. Ian wanted red, I wanted blue (not available) and DH wanted silver. In between red and silver, I voted for silver, and Ian’s vote can be easily manipulated.
I picked up a pack of golden little gift boxes for deco as well, and a piece of few yards silver glitering thread.
My first time decorating a Christmas tree. We woke up early on Sunday, after breakfast, Isabel, Ian and I sat around the tree and started decorating. It was really fun, though Isabel kept removing the decoratives whenever we hang up. Little rascal.
And here is our tree! Dadadada! Nice or not? In total, it costed us less than RM100. The lights were given by my friend who works in IKEA many years ago, never been used. ![]()

aiyu: Hehe, I dislike red, so eventhough can put more than one colour, I persuaded Ian to change his mind.
Bad mama. I prefer blue, but there is no blue in IKEA. We had silver and gold (present boxes).
Beautiful! I love putting the tree up early - it sets the holiday mood for the rest of the month.
I’ve been wanting to get our first Christmas tree too but we’ve just been so busy….
You’re right - the tree is very reasonably priced. If only I stayed in Klang Valley…SIGH…
Nice..! will post my christmas tree up soon..
Neena: Yes, and for cheapskate people like me, I find it more worthy - used for longer period of time. Muahahahahah!
MG: Hehe, there is a saying, something like nothing is too busy for, only if you want to do it or not.
Giddy Tiger: NVM, you have other better things KV doesn’t offer…
Mama Bok: Great, let our children see their tree when they grow up - isn’t it the purpose of our journal?
