Ian & Me – our private time
I was on leave on Friday. After having lunch with EMYYL, whom I have not met for a real long time since her wedding a few years ago, I dropped Isabel to MIL’s house, and went out with Ian. Just the 2 of us.
I got some cinema advertisers vouchers . In between GSC 1U and Cathay Cineleisure, I’ve decided to go to 1U coz there would be more activities for Ian.

This is the very first cinema trip for Ian. Before going, I briefed him what is cinema and what to be expected in it. I told him it is a very big TV, with a lot of people watching together, and the room is very dark.
As he hasn’t tried popcorn before, I also bought him a pack. Unfortunately he dropped the whole box on the floor, 2/3 gone! Anyway, he still enjoyed it.
The moment we sat down, he was very excited and asked me (loudly, as usual): “Mama! Why they haven’t switch on the TV?” LOL!
Then as the advertisements started showing, one ad was Malaysian history thingy (I didn’t pay attention). At the end of the ad, there was a silence and he suddenly said (with umph): “MALAYSIA!” The whole cinema laughed!
He was very good through out the whole show (Enchanted). No fuss, not making too much noice except to ask me questions like: “Mama, he say what?”, “Mama, why she wants to kill her?”, “Mama, why she so bad?”, “Mama, what happened?”
He had difficulty understanding the relationship thingy, and the conversations between the people on love, dating, relationship, etc. But overall, he enjoyed the film.
After the show, I brought him to Bakerzin to have dinner. I didn’t expect it to be so expensive! I spent nearly RM70 for a shared dinner with him!
He made me ordered a pumpkin soup, which he ended up didn’t drink even a spoon – I had to finish them (I hate pumpkin soup!).
I ordered lamb stew, though he told me he didn’t want to eat anything except cake. Knowing my son, he refused to try new things but I know he’d like the lamb stew. Sure enough, after forcing him to try 1 tiny piece, he LOVED it!

He ate a lot of the stew, plus 3 large portions of carrots. I was so happy to see this choosy boy ate so much.
Yes, it tasted really good. If it passes my son’s taste bud, you can trust it is definitely delicious. The meat was very tender and soft, and the gravy was not too thick nor greasy – just at the right touch. It was served with 2 slices of crispy breads – Ian walloped one whole piece!
And the last item was what he long waited – the Warm Chocolate Cake. Hmm… few years ago, you can’t find this in most restaurants, but now it is like available in everywhere.

I didn’t want him to over-eat (and vomit later), so I quickly ate half the portion plus the slice of peach (he didn’t like it). He loved the cake and ice-cream so badly, finished them in just seconds! And then he started attempting to lick the plate. I had to ask them clear the plates to avoid embarassment! Hehehehe!
Just before leaving, I let him play a round of the ‘ging-gong-ging-gong-one’. This time he chose to sit on the Batman’s car.
I had a very happy boy by the end of Friday… but Isabel was very upset coz I didn’t stay with her during her nap. Will try to spend a special time with her, when she is older – right now, she is still not interested in just everything!
EMYYL told me it is important to spend some ‘individual time’ (can’t remember the term she used) with each kids. I agree with her, but really not now for Isabel – she wouldn’t enjoy too…

I look forward to spending time alone with my brat too..
it’s a great thing to do..
And the brat is just like Ian.. donch wanna try new food at all. Bummer eh..?
Yea, Yea !!! I love Bakerzin too !! And their desserts.
Just dropping by to wish you a Merry Christmas !!
Mama Bok: Hey, do that – spend time alone with Chloe. It is definitely very great. Hmm… I think kids at their age are just like that – not adventurous with food. Just got to be patient… (easily said than done – I am not one!).
allthingspurple: Thanks for the wishes! Bakerzin is so expensive ler. My first visit and pokkai already!
You need to cater “individual time” for each child. Perhaps for Isabel’s age, it would be some quiet time with her, doing whatever she enjoys(playing dolls, building block towers, etc) where she has your full attention without big bro interfering
EMYYL: Thanks for the tips. Tried that the other day on Christmas when DH brought Ian to a party. Isabel just dragged me to oin-oin (sleep) and wanted her nen-nen. Yes! She sees me, she sees nen-nen only, not anything else. So funny. So, after DH and Ian left, she had her lunch, and went straight to sleep. Have to find other times. Baby at this age really focus on eat, sleep and sh*t only! LOL!
