My stock of frozen EBM

Have just reviewed my stock of frozen EBM (expressed breast milk). Here is what ‘remained’.

My house’s freezer:
Empty Freezer

It is empty now, used to be 100% filled up with frozen EBM, until I run out of space. This freezer is not for uncooked stuff. No meat, no fish, etc. allowed. Only later when Isabel started solid, I allowed some meats to be stored on the bottom left compartment, and the meats must be kept in air tight container, so the smell won’t contaminate the EBMs. Ah, in small quantity as well.

As you can see, the freezer is now slowly occupied by ice-creams. :)
The others are ice packs. Did you also notice that the ice maker was removed? That is to give more space for the frozen EBM, now maybe the time to put them back. :)

And here is the freezer in MIL’s house:
Freezer half filled with frozen breast milk

It is half of what it used to be. The upper deck are all frozen EBM, and the red basket on second deck is also frozen EBM. The blue box is just ice-cream. This freezer also, as much as possible, no meat/fish.

Sooner or later, all EBM will be gone, coz I have stopped expressing since my last trip to India in September. It is so easy now that I don’t have to express at work. I only feed directly at night. For solid 2 months I didn’t pump already. During the day, Isabel takes from the frozen stock. I guess by January, they will all be gone, and we will need supplements.

I have also stopped expressing at work for a month now. It frees up a lot of time, but I kind of feel like something is lost, although I still feed him direct at home.

I stopped expressing when Ryan turned 2 years old. My fridge also used to be like yours and I was amazed I could have so much stock. Hubby called me a human cow … was a little sad when the stock was gone.

Now we are all thankful we presevered cause the milk powder is so bloody expensive!

Giddy Tiger: I know what you mean. I also feel the same. A mixed feeling - a relief and a lost. Soon when we say bye bye to breastfeeding, the feeling would be even worse… :)

Busy Bee: You could express until 2 years old, very well done! You are so right about the milk powder price. Now I spend so much for Ian!

Mama Bok: Hehehe, I looked organized just because I don’t cook, not many things in my freezer. If I cook and start stocking up my freezer, I guess we would be the same! BTW, the one who is organized is my maid, not me. LOL!

I should really get ahold of some of those freezer baskets, they look like they would organize the freezer pretty nicely. Mine is crammed full of food for 4 people and a complete mess.

jazzmint: hehe, but I’m sure it is also a relief those days are gone, right? :)

perros: you’d laugh at me if you know where I got those baskets… They are the baskets from the hampers I received when my babies were born! Pretty good usage, I’d say, in oppose to people throwing them away! :)
