Bad Luck is Not Over

Published by suzette under All, Mumbles

The workshop went well with only minor hiccups. I met with SM (my best friend works in BKK) and had some fun yesterday.

Just as I thought my bad luck is over, this morning my boss called. She had an accident with minor injuries, but that would prevent her from going for her next trip.

That means, I will have to run her 3 workshops with very little preparation and little familiarity.

This is the second in a roll. What kind of luck I’m having now?????

Guilt

Published by suzette under All, Ian, Isabel

Every time when I’m away from home, at night when DH let Ian speak to me on the phone, these is the standard thing Ian would say to me:

“MAMA! I miss you very much today! I miss you a lot in the school.”

On my first night in Bangkok, he asked me:
“Mama, where are you now? Why are you there? Come back… I want you…”

Oohhhh, this kind of statements really can make me feel really guilty for being away from him. He is at the age of asking a lot of questions and would say things to express his feeling already.

I miss him very much, very much now.

Of course, I miss Isabel too. The day before leaving the house, she held me tight, refused to let me go, and she cried at the sight that I was leaving. I miss her too.

I can’t wait to go home and meet my children now. This makes me very hard to extend any stays to do any sightseeing. A trade off that I must make…

Bad Luck in This Season?

Published by suzette under All, Traveling

The plan for this BKK trip was:
Today - Leave my house at 1230. Arrive BKK airport at 1615. Reach agency office at 1745 and to my office by 1830.
My agency partner is expected to conduct workshops tomorrow and the day after (Thu and Fri).

What happened? At 1225, my partner called. He was admitted to the hospital this morning without warning.
Implication - I have to run the show all by myself, and I am not familiar with the material – was supposed to be a workshop participant myself!

At 1610, my flight hasn’t taken off yet. MAS is doing another delay on my flight again. I arrived BKK airport at 1715. An hour late.

While I was queuing for immigration, suddenly blackout. The computer system was shut down as a result of that. Took 30 min to recover. I was at the queue for more than 45 min.

I was only able to leave the airport at 6pm. Skipped agency office, went straight to my office to meet my appointment. Luckily (of all my bad lucks) the taxi drive understood my urgency, took a lot of shortcuts and able to avoid some terrible jams we saw ahead. I was able to make it for my appointment with only slight delay.

Conclusion – this is really a terrible and stressful trip. I will need to spend the evenings familiarize myself with the workshop material.

Bedtime Conversation with Ian

Published by suzette under All, Ian

Few nights ago, during bedtime, the following conversation took place…

Suz: Ian, if you earn a lot of money in the future, would you want to buy a big house?
Ian: Yes, of course!

Suz: If you have a big house, can I come and stay with you?
Ian: Yes. And Daddy, and Kakak (maid), and Isabel and Ian also.

I then teased him, ‘Would you want to get married?’
Ian said, ‘Yes…’
Suz: What if your wife said she doesn’t want to stay with me?
(just wanted to let him know sometimes he can’t get all he wants)

He replied in a sad tone, ‘That is so sad…’
I was very surprised with the words he chose! ‘So Sad’?

I then challenged him further, ‘Ya, that is so sad, so how?’
To my surprised, he said, ‘I will tell her: GO AWAY!’

Hahahaha! He is saying this now, but I think ‘go away’ is for me in the future! :P

Anyway, that could probably happen, so it is very important (and I’ve determined) to be independent and not relying on our kids when we are old.

Ian Made Me Laugh

Published by suzette under All, Ian

Kids are really smart with their jokes, though they don’t really mean jokes. :)
These are a few things that Ian made me laugh lately…

……………………
We bought an air purifier few months back. After explaining to Ian, he picked up the word, and like to mutter: ‘Air purifier’ now and then.

One night, he asked me, ‘Mama, why air puri-FIRE got fire? Where is the fire?’

……………………
One day, he stood in the bedroom admiring our wedding photo and said, ‘Mama, your hair curled like this like that, very beautiful.’

And he slowly turned to stare at me, with a naughty face he pointed his little finger at me, ‘But this one… hehehehe!’

……………………
At night in Redang, around bed time, Ian grabbed my hand and said, ‘Mama, come, I want to go home already.’

I thought he was home sick, I got panic a little and kept explaining. After a while, he knew I misunderstood and he said,
‘Mama, I don’t want to go to Ian’s house, I want to go home to sleep’

Now I understand – his ‘home’ means ‘room’!

……………………
My sister joked & called him ‘Dirty Cat’ few days ago.

Ian protested, ‘No! Don’t call me that! I am not a cat!’
with his eyes rolling…
