Today is the launch day for the 7th book of the Harry Potter series.

This is the 7th and also the last book of the series. Since its first book published, it has received a lot of attentions internationally.

Can’t remember since which book of the series, pre-order is available, and people just can’t wait to grab the first hand on the books.

I’ve never be caught in any situations like this before. Not with any toys McD launched. Not with any previous HP books launches. I am not that desperate to be the first to read the book. I can wait for a year till the paperpack is out. I am THAT patient. But this 7th book has just been too overly mentioned and lots of hypes and hoo hah everywhere…

The major bookshop chains accepted pre-order of the book. When I went to Tesco, I read the poster enphasizing there is no need to pre-order, but they guarantee the lowest price on the launch date. I believed in that, furthermore I CAN wait. So, I didn’t pre-order.

Today is the launch date. Major newspaper and radio coverage reported there is a big hype, bigger than the launch itself, about the bold action MPH has taken against what Tesco and Carrefour done with the price.

Okay, the RRP is RM109.90. Last evening (or this morning), they found out from these hypermarkets’ brochure that they are selling at RM69.90. That is around 35% cheaper. Who would buy from the 4 bookshop chains (namely MPH, Times, Popular and … can’t remember which one, Borders? Maybe…).

MPH has returned all the books and refused to sell to any walk-in customers. Only those who have pre-ordered (paid RM50 deposit) would get their books today.

I told DH to get a copy for me from Tesco, since RM70 is a great price. Luckily he went today, since he has to get some groceries for the house (ya, sorry to say, he has to do the marketing as I have to look after the kids at home. :P).

He called and told me luckily he goes today. Coz, due to the hype MHP and Co have created today in major media, the hypermarkets will only sell at this price for TODAY ONLY.

If you read my blog on time, and would like to buy the book at lower than RRP, then you better go now! To your nearest Carrefour or Tesco stores. If you miss today, you’ll have to pay RM109.90 or to wait a year or more for the paperpack, if you want something cheaper. :P

Harry Potter, Harry Potter… you are always the center of attention. This would be the very first time I am buying your book on your launch date, or even near your launch. :D

Since the book was launched in Spore, you see it everywhere. Someone even brought it to a church wedding I attended yesterday! With all due respect to Potter and Rowling, if you can’t bear to let him out of your sight even for a minute, you should stay home with him and not insult the couple who invited you to their wedding.

EMYYL: Hahaha! Is this an adult or kid? If kid, okay lah, don’t blame them.

shooi: Oh, really? I was told Carrefour was going to up their price after the 1st day. In that case, maybe they don’t have to really give in to the situation…
