Diapering Wars
Recently I am quite upset when it comes to diapering issues.
Since I bought the cloth diapers from MiaBambina, I have been having arguments with MIL on diapering issues.
She is against me using the cloth diapers, as she perceives the CDs are too hot for the children.
I know she intended well for my kids. During the day, she is trying not to use diapers (any forms) on Isabel, and started potty training her. Basically we have to give potty every 15 to 30 min, or we will have to mop the floor.
Okay, I admit I am lazy. I feel stressed that I have to do this so frequently, even with my maid’s help. I don’t like to let my maid deals with my children too much, so this will eventually lay back to my shoulder.
Adding more to this, lately MIL has also been brainwashing Ian to against using diaper at night.
Couple of weeks ago, Ian insisted not to use diaper at night. When I persuaded him, he would say: “But Popoh said I am big already I should not wear diaper already!”
I had to set alarm to wake up every 2-3 hourly, to wake him up to pee. In the early night, I needed to wake up 1 hourly until past midnight. Well, he was cooperative, but the second night he pee a little on the bed (luckily I used the protective sheet I won from MiaBambina forum).
After a few sleepless night, I felt that I would get myself killed as I was too tired and almost dozed off driving my car to/from work!
DH also complaint that I should let Ian use diaper until he knows to wake up at night, as it also disrupts his sleep.
MIL doesn’t understand. She said she also did this last time with her kids. When told that we both have to work, she replied that she also had to do housework last time. She doesn’t understand at all. And my boss has already reprimanded me for making mistakes in my job already… 
I also don’t understand why she has to be so against the CD. She said it is hot. But disposable diapers are not? Last time, she opened up the used MamyPoko, removed the absorbants, washed and then insert folded nappy to re-use.
What’s the difference between my CD and what she did last time? Those were not right – disposables are not meant for recycling!
In CD, we are just using a different inserts – microfibre or hemps. These inserts are even thinner and more breathable than the folded nappies that she used.
What’s the matter now? I really don’t understand. DH is caught in between. She asked DH to tell me not to use the CDs, coz I never follow.
Now, I’ve gave up on Ian’s diaper – he is using MamyPoko again. But I’m not giving up on Isabel, as I’ve invested so much on the M size.
I want to find some articles about the harmful material used in disposable diapers to show them. If you know of any links or articles, please share? Thanks!
I don’t understand too. I showed some of my friends the CD that I bought for my SIL, they were also commenting ‘wah, so thick, hot or not??…it’s made of polyester wor!! ‘ ….things like that.
I guess ppl are a bit sceptical to things that are new ??
