You Want Anything From Beijing?

Published by suzette under All, Mumbles

I will be going to Beijing soon. Any of you want anything from Beijing? This offer is limited to those in KL/PJ only.

I will be going to the Hongqiao Market (红桥市场) and the Toy City (玩具城).

Please leave a comment here if you want something from these 2 markets, I will reply via email separately on the budget and potential cost to you, to my best knowledge.

I won’t accept any ‘orders’ after Tuesday (7 Aug).

Chinese Poem - Progress

Published by suzette under All, Ian

I was so impresed with Ian in his ability to memorize all phrases of the old Chinese Poem (三字经).

I have never studies that, and I don’t know what it contains. When challenged by him on the meaning, I googled and found a site that recites the poem as well as translating the poem into modern language.

In that process, I realized that: wow! my boy can remember so much! He is able to memorize all of the below:

Though this is only 13% of the total poem, but look at the length! I can’t remember them myself! I think the playshool is teaching him with songs - they sing it instead of read it, which makes it more interesting and easier.

I am ashamed by my own command in the poem - I heard that it is a ‘must-know’ in the old days. :P

Harry Potter Book 7 Launch Day

Published by suzette under All, Book

Today is the launch day for the 7th book of the Harry Potter series.

This is the 7th and also the last book of the series. Since its first book published, it has received a lot of attentions internationally.

Can’t remember since which book of the series, pre-order is available, and people just can’t wait to grab the first hand on the books.

I’ve never be caught in any situations like this before. Not with any toys McD launched. Not with any previous HP books launches. I am not that desperate to be the first to read the book. I can wait for a year till the paperpack is out. I am THAT patient. But this 7th book has just been too overly mentioned and lots of hypes and hoo hah everywhere…

The major bookshop chains accepted pre-order of the book. When I went to Tesco, I read the poster enphasizing there is no need to pre-order, but they guarantee the lowest price Continue Reading »

Day Dream

Published by suzette under All, Blogging

Sometimes it is good to day dream once a while…

Msau wanted to know what would I do if I have a million $. Actually this is a dream that I always dreamt. :P But then, her question doesn’t have currency, just $… if it is RM then a million is not THAT much, but if it is pound sterlings or USD, wow! (see, I am THAT greedy… :P)

Seriously, a million ringgit can’t even buy a good shop lot in good location. How to fulfill my dream to live with collected rentals? That is my dream! If I really have enough money to buy one or two shoplots in very good location, I will quit my job immediately and become BaoZhouPoh (woman landlord who collects rental only)! :P

Okay, this is a meme, so I have to pass on to others…

Now, this will be passed/tagged to the following bloggers, coz I am really curious to find out what would they do with that amount of money:

Challenging Questions

Published by suzette under All, Ian

Ian is over 3 years old now. He is asking a lot of intelligent questions that I start to feel the challenge most parents have now.

He would ask: What is die?
I got stuck there. I told him die means cannot move, cannot open the eyes, cannot walk, cannot play, etc. Then he asked me why cannot. I stuck again…

When he listened to story, he would ask: Mama, why she broke her legs?
Suzette: Because she is not careful enough
Ian: Why she is not careful?
Suzette: Because she is sick
Ian: Why is she sick?
Suzette: … I think maybe because she is too poor, not enough money to eat good food
Ian: Why is she poor? Why she not eat good food?
Suzette: …

In the same story, he also asked: What is widow?
Suzette: Widow is a woman that her husband died
Ian: Mama is a widow?
Suzette: No, no, no! Mama is not! Who is Mama’s husband?
Ian: He is not die yet.
Suzette: Ya, he is not die, but who is mama’s husband?
Ian: Outside, working on his computer
Suzette: (sigh!)… (and smile)

Recently his most favourite question is about the Chinese ancient poem (三字经). Seriously, I never learnt this in school. I couldn’t answer him. I need to study them now! Can’t believe that I am doing this at this age… :P
