MIL New Neighbour
In-law’s previous neighbour bought their own house and moved end of last year. The owner wanted to rent it out again, but has been vacant for quite a while.
A couple of months ago, a real agent came with an old couple. They liked the house but wanted a lower rent, so couldn’t make the deal. Somewhat from conversation between MIL and the agent, they found out MIL knows the owner.
Few days later, the couple came back and asked MIL’s help to talk to the owner to lower the rent. MIL is always too nice to reject others, so she helped them, and finally they moved in.
Then, nightmare began…
A couple of weeks after they moved in, the old lady started to scold MIL openly at the yard. MIL at first didn’t know she was being scolded. She first thought the old lady so strange, talking so loudly outside. Well, being KPC, she listened in, and realized the lady was scolding her, because she even named our surname.
The house owner also received all those ‘good’ treatments from them. They would call up the owner and complaint about MIL. Well, the other side of that house is the alley, so MIL is the only target of them.
Later, MIL remembered before moving in, the couple mentioned that they have been moving around, from a house to another. We guess it is because they couldn’t get along with their neighbours!
Alright, all the above I heard from MIL, and I’ve never seen that. They are very smart, never do that when there are other people at home.
But, I witnessed their fiercefulness this morning myself…
Arrived earlier than usual, when I was removing Isabel from the car seat, suddenly saw a man took a big parang knife, standing in front of MIL’s external garden. And I heard him shouting at MIL and MIL trying to negotiate with him.
Carrying Isabel on one hand, I quickly listened in. The old man, apparently is that new neighbour, wanted to chop off my MIL’s plants. He claims that her plants are blocking the road and is dangerous (WTF, if so the authority will already gave summon to her!).
MIL asked him not to chop them, and tried to reason with him that if he has a problem with that just tell her and she will deal with her own stuff herself.
Wah, this old man shouted at her and said he doesn’t care that he is cutting the plants now.
MIL very angry but didn’t know what to do.
I quickly took out my phone, switched on the camera, wanted to record the video of him chopping our things. Well, somewhat, with a hand carrying Isabel I was too clumsy unable to take the video, but instead too a very blurry and unclear photo.
Upon seeing me with my ‘camera’, he got scared and left the scene. But I also guess he got satisfied too, as he actually did chop off one tree.
I didn’t say a word through out the process, except at the end I told MIL, loud enough for them to hear, that I took the video of the action already (just wanted to scare them off).
Oh, the most interesting part is, this old lady was watching happily outside, and at the same time she was facing MIL, pointing finger at her, scolding:
“你这个疯女人,最爱找人骂架, 一天不骂架你就睡不着… 姓陈的, 最毒了… bla bla bla”
(English: You are a mad woman, love quarreling with others, if you don’t quarrel with others you can’t sleep well… The Ching’s family is the most evil… bla bla bla…”
I don’t think anyone can be mistaken her for scolding my MIL. At first I thought maybe MIL was sensitive, but seeing it myself… and seeing MIL’s face I really pity her has to endure this by herself.
I called DH to tell him this. We thought this neighbour could have mental problem. And actually I am also worried would they one day take the parang knife and walk over to kill MIL and all my children… What can we do?
