Sequal of the Marriott Hotel Story
I copied the whole content of my previous post to my travel blog as it is, for 2 reasons: 1) to align the topic (travel related); 2) to get the story more spread out.
I didn’t expect that post to get international attention, particularly from the Karachiite (the way they call themselves).
I posted it in my travel blog on 3 Mar. On Monday, it caught someone’s attention who then linked it in their metroblog. Wow, after that, my blog’s traffic went up, and visitors’ profile also changed. It used to be USA and Malaysia skewed. Yesterday, half of my visitors came from Pakistan. Traffic was 5-fold.
Actually I felt bad, coz these people are very nice and patriotic. They love their country so much, and have good reasons to be concerned on the impact of my experience to their country’s image.
Here, I can safely claim that my experience has not affected my view of their country in general. However, I do admit that some people will generalize based on this. The HK lady my boss shared room with, did make a comment like this: “This is my first trip to this country, and they are creating very bad first impression. It is the first point of contact for any international visitor and it really damage their country’s image…”
The Karachiites were upset with this incident too, and requested that I send the story to their press. After contemplating for a while, whether I should make it big or keep at a lower profile (bear in mind I do not want too much attention to this blog), I still submitted my story to two press. I am only worried it might get fired up too big for me to swallow. I did that, in the hope that it will help improving the hotel industry in Pakistan. I hope I did the right thing…

Wow, did you delete your previous post as well??
No, I didn’t delete my posts. I think I should not.
Hmm… read already before, but just now when click on your link to the previous post seems the page cannot be found.
sue: thanks for pointing out. I fixed the link already.
You did write. I’d post to the press too if I were you.
