Ian and Play School
Finding a daycare or play school is never easy, especially for us, new mommies. I have spent nearly 6 months before deciding that the current play school suits Ian most, and am happy that I’ve finally settled with this current one.
The first one Ian was enrolled last year, ended up a disaster. He might be too young then (2.5 years), but even I disliked the school. We decided to discontinue after 3 months (had to finish off the deposit month).
Ian was ‘free’ for a month while I searched for other options. I came across this current school, and brought Ian to visit 3 times before we finally enrolled him. He loved the place (of course with mommy around), during the 3 visits.
We tried it for a month, during the school holiday program. He had a mixed behavior – refused to go when DH sent him, okay when I sent him.
I’ve decided to continue when the school reopened this year. Since he was okay when I sent him, I took up the responsibility to do that, whenever I’m not traveling. Consistency and perseverance paid off. He is now happy in the school, and he learn a lot of new skills and new songs. He likes the school very much now. I am very pleased with that too…

Hi,
I have been contemplating of sending my son to play school. He is 2yrs 3mths, and I am wondering if he is still too young. He is not toilet trained yet, and he can’t eat on his own.
Am hoping you can share your experience with me. I saw some of your old blog on Ian’s experience. Hv you sent your daughter to school yet?
Any tips on good play school around PJ area?
Vivian: Isabel is 2 years 4mths, and I intend to send her to the school next month. Want to start her during the holiday program, when there are less kids and more casual (more play than learn). You can try doing it this way, to gradually get him used to schooling environment.
I don’t know about PJ area, but after testing with Ian’s, I think the best way is to bring him there, when you are checking out. So you can tell immediately whether your son will like the place or not.
Make sure you bring him back a few times before actually enroll, just in case he changes his mind.
Also, check out whether the teachers are loving or not (or the fierful type) by observing the class for a while.
