Coxsackie

Ian and Isabel were infected with coxsackie.  Yes, that nasty virus.  :(

Ian first complaint about ‘teeth-pain’ on Wed (4th day of CNY).  I was too careless, I thought he has tooth decay and ignored him.  On Thurday, he complaint about ‘teeth-pain’ again.  I looked inside, and saw an ulcer.  I thought he was dehydrated, since it is common during CNY.  I just gave him a lot of water to drink and stopped him from eating ‘heaty’ stuff.

On Friday, he was too painful that he stopped drinking milk – 4 consecutive times.  I suddenly thought of coxsackie.  Took a torchlight looked inside.  My god!  Full of ulcers.  I bet it must be very painful.  My poor boy.

Then, I saw Isabel’s lips started to have 2 blisters.  I brought them to see the doc.  He suspected coxsackie and said nothing we can do – no antibiotic can be given as it is virus infection.  We just need to monitor and make sure they are well hydrated.

Ian was recovering fast.  He didn’t have rashes on hands and feet.  No fever too.

Isabel is rather unlucky.  Her feet are covered with rashes.  Hands have a little.  No fever.  But her ulcers are too bad that she screamed the whole nights – for 2 nights now.  Yesterday, doc said if her ulcers and rashes not getting any better by Wed, she might need to be admitted to hospital.

I feel very bad coz I have to leave her again tonight.  I really hope she is getting better and does not have to go to hospital.  If it is really that bad, I will fly back tomorrow no matter the costs.

i am sorry to hear this.
ryan also got this nasty thing last year and was admitted to the hospital.
less than 7 days after being discharged, he got another attack again. the doctor said that the virus did not clear from the system, hence another round of hospitalization.

it is scary for the parents and suffering for the kids.
but hand in there, you will pull through.

All: Thanks for your concerns. I heard that Isable cries less today, and I guess she is alright now, no need to go to hospital already. :) actually what is more difficult for us is being so far away now… I hope she won’t be angry with me…

msau: I hope your children speedy recovery too…

busy bee: aiyoh! hospitalized twice, that must be awful! At what stage must a child be hospitalised? I have no clue at all!
