New Breast Pump

I think all the breastfeeding mothers are going to feel jealous on me.  Hehehe!

Yesterday my sister, who is going to get married and has her own children soon, rang me in the office.  She told me she has decided to buy an electric breast pump for her future babies, and she will let me use it first.

See, I have such a lovely sister, you jealous or not?  :P

We went and bought the Medela PIS Advance after work yesterday.  I found a good deal somewhere that can save us RM300.  We bought the one in backpack.

I started using it today.  I have already pumped twice with it.  Whew!  I must tell you, this is a really good buy.  If I had not been too stingy, I would have saved myself a lot of time with this PIS!

In its advertisement, it always says it ‘feels more like your baby’, which I never believed.  I just thought my Avent Isis was already very good, until I tried this PIS today.  It REALLY FEELS LIKE A BABY SUCKLING!  Less than a minute I’ve already got let-down.  And within 5 mins I’ve finished pumping (with double pumps).

Well, of course, the pump needs to be assembled and disassembled, and there are more parts to be washed coz there are 2 pumps.  So, the total time that I spent from assembled, to pump, to disassembled, to washing –> took me around 15 min or so.

It is still good, and i think my yield today has increased.  Maybe psychological effect, I don’t know.  :P

I agreed. I used PIS also, when I was still working… Good investment for first baby :D. But, the only disadvantage is, the room MUST have a socket to plug in! Some time can be quite troublesome!

You made me to tempted to get one only. But Isabelle’s already 8 months old, my mooing days will be ended in about a year, so sayang getting a new pump now.

So envy!! I’m looking for a breastpump too for my second baby. The pump I used while breastfeeding LLS was a battery operated. Not very efficient and going to spoilt soon. But this Medela PIS still sound too expensive for me. :( How was the avent manual pump? Was it good?

Beckysmum: Ya, so I still need my Avent Isis, when I travel. I now love PIS already, I just don’t know how I’m going to live without it. Hahaha!

Yiwen: Ya, I am so LUCKY! :)

J: Hey, I haven’t congratulated you yet. Congratulations on your new girl, Jessica, right? Avent Isis is actually very good for a manual pump but I do have some complaints. I’ll write about it, coz too long to respond in comment. :)

shoppingmum: that’s the same reason I contemplated for a while last month, then decided not to buy. Then, my sister bought instead. I think she knows I am stingy. :P

1+2mom: Hmm… actually before you started bfg, how did you know how long you’d bf leh?

[...] And the newly designed valve has very poor suction.  In fact, I’ve just got the new valve and used on Tue and Wed (just before my sister bought the Medela PIS for me).  Its performance dropped on both days, my supply dwindled.  My sister’s PIS just came in handy and rescued me! [...]

Zara’s mama: you used Harmony before? Why not you share with J and us, your review on the Harmony pump? I’m sure there are other moms would like to know too!

Vediaz: I bought it from First Few Years in the Curve. At that time, they were on promo. I’m not sure whether they are still having this good deal or not. However, I like this shop because their prices are always lower than every other places.

Only 1 down side about this - they import from USA directly, hence the power inlet is the 2 flat pin, i.e. US way. This shop is very nice, they include an adaptor when they sell the unit. So, not a problem, I should say. :)
