ME Time
Shoppingmom wrote about her ‘me-time’. I share the same feeling and problem too.
Ever since I have my own children, I practically lost all my ‘me-time’. DH is also the same, but to a lesser extent. He still goes out with friends for mamak, photography (his hobby), motorsports, etc.
Ever since Ian was born, I’ve stopped going mamak at night with DH and our friends. We were schoolmates, so we share the common friends. Really envy that he can do that, whilst I have to stay at home looking after the kids.
Not only that, at least shoppingmum can have her ‘me-time’ after her children fall asleep at night.
For me, during the day I’m working in a stressful environment. Afterwork, I have to rush picking up my kids, bath them, feed them. By the time they go to bed, I’m exhausted. I often sleep before they do!
I think my ‘me-time’ is only availabl when I travel. But that is very different.
I have many books on shelves that I need to finish. I have a passed-down camera that I want to explore. All these require ‘me-time’… I guess I will only get some, after my children grow up.
My friend reminded me that, once upon a time, my mom also lost her ‘me-time’, to my sister and me. This thought, makes me think of my mom even more. And I started feeling sorry for MIL too. She lost her ‘me-time’, again, after committing to take care of my children. Though she still has her weekends and night time off, she is not as free as my mom. I appreciate their sacrifice for me and my children. Thanks mom, and mother (MIL).
