Durian and Ian

Published by suzette under All, Ian

Last Monday AEC started a new Singapore series in the evening.  In the first episode, 郑惠玉 ate some durians and used it as weapon.  It was quite a funny scene.

Ian saw it and kept saying that he wanted to eat durian too.  His grandpa loves him so much that he bought two on Tuesday.

At first, Ian kept circling around the unopened durian, anxiously waiting for grandpa to open.  But then… right after grandpa opened it, Ian ran away, hiding behind grandma and kept gigling (as if thinking - “are you kidding? this thing can be eaten??”).

We wanted him to try some.  After all, it was his request to get some durian.  But he kept hidiing away and refused to try any at all.  So, MIL slide in a small piece into his mouth when he was not noticing.

WAHHHH!!!  He screamed in horror and cried!  :D  At the sight of this, we all laughed out loud.

He kept saying: “I don’t want!  I don’t want!  I don’t want durian!”

I asked him: “Is durian 香香 (fragrant) or 臭臭 (smelly)?”

Ian didn’t want to answer me.  When forced, he said “香”.

Suz: “Then, do you want to eat it?”

Ian: “NO!!!!  I don’t want durian!”

Hahahaha!  I think he didn’t really mean it when he said it smells good.  So, when we reached home, just the two of us…

I asked: “Now, just the two of us, tell me, is durian 香香 (fragrant) or 臭臭 (smelly)?”

Ian: “Hehehehe! * whispered * 臭臭 (smelly).  I don’t want to eat durian…”

:D

‘Creative’ Ian

Published by suzette under All, Ian

Why I think Ian is creative?  Well, that’s because he likes to alter or make up his own phrases.  Sometimes, the effect is very hillarious.

For instance, one of the Astro AEC’s program “国光帮帮忙”… He used to mention it all the time coz he heard it many times through the previews.  After a few months, he suddenly decided to make it “公公帮帮忙”.  When his grandpa first heard it, he seriously thought Ian wanted him to help out with something!  :D

He likes the song: Elephant, elephant…  One day, he decided to change it to: Aeroplane, aeroplane…

A couple of weeks ago, he watched the Barney’s VCD and learnt the new song “Ring Around the Rosie”.  He’ve decided that the lyrics should be “Jingle bungle bungle, Jingle bungle bungle, All fall down” (’ashes ashes’ is skipped).  :)

There are a lot more, but I just can’t remember all of them.  Mostly lyrics.

Ian Good Boy

Published by suzette under All, Ian

I brought Ian to Jusco yesterday, just the 2 of us.  Sometimes I really don’t understand why he likes to go there, coz it is usually just me getting some groceries quickly and leave.  The whole process is usually less than 30 min.  Maybe is just a get-away for him, from being confined at home??

Anyway, yesterday I spent a little longer there, coz I needed to browse for some baby stuff, especially bottle teats for Isabel.

I was extremely pleased with Ian yesterday.  I’ve never seen him so obedient and being so good!  He held my hand ALL THE TIME (ya, he always refused).  Before he set out to run, he asked for my permission first.  When he saw the cartoon cart, he just exclaimed ‘WAH!’ and walked away quietly with me, didn’t cry to have it.  When he saw the Superman and Cars merchandises, he just exclaimed with ‘WAH!!’ and walked away quietly too.

When it came to the last section - the supermarket, he happily let me put him in the trolley, without trying to stand up or do dangerous stunt.  We chat happily through out the whole shopping trip.

He said ‘thank you’ and ‘please’ to the Jusco staff and to me all the time.  He smiled, without crying, all the time.

Whew!  This is really difficult to get (难得).  I am so happy with him, and I didn’t have to put on any sterned face which I hate to do.  I could shop calmly and put on my smile all the time.

A very happy shopping trip for the two of us.  I really love Ian, especially when he is such a good boy like this.  Never seen him so good before.  :P

Embarrasing First Self Defence Class

Published by suzette under All, Mumbles

I signed up membership with a fitness centre nearby on Monday.

Well, I was actually looking for Yoga classes as I have tried them before my second pregnancy.  But then, this fitness centre not only have Yoga classes, it has one other thing that attracted me - Practical Self Defence.

So, I ended up signed up for ‘All-In’ unlimited package as it is more worthy –> cost me less than 100 per month (pay up front for 12 months).  I know I am not preserverence when it comes to exercising, so I have decided to do this to make me commit.  (I am a very stingy person.  By paying 12 months, I will be very ’samtong’ (sad) if I don’t fully use the benefit!)

Yesterday, I attended my first self defence class (already joined 2 yoga classes earlier).  I want to tell everyone - this is a very good and practical class!  It is definitely worthy to join!

But then… Well, since young, I was called ‘严重的缺乏运动细胞’ or in Malay we say ‘cacat bola’.  Basically I just don’t have any athletic sense.  When I played bowling, the ball goes to the back instead of into the lane.  When I played squash, the ball hits me instead of me hitting it.  When i played tennis, the ball goes high up instead of to the front.  When I do high-jump, I hit straight to the pole…

So, what happened yesterday was just too embarassing…

First, when I was supposed to kick the sand bag, my shoe flew out!  I had to run to get my shoe and wore it again (with my red face, of course!)

Then, when I was supposed to turn around and kick the sand bag… after I turned around, I immediately fell on the floor - BANG!!!!  This time, everyone laughed at me!  :P

And this morning, my whole body is aching!  :(  I just have to skip today’s yoga class, coz I am just too painful, all over.  :P

Singing Contest vs Copy Cat Contest

Published by suzette under All, Mumbles

Last month when having confinement at my mom’s house, I witnessed how her singing teacher taught them singing.

Well, my mom and her friends are all into singing.  They take classes and they also take parts in singing contests.  Their singing classes actually take place at my mom’s house every once a week.

I was a silent observer for 4 weeks, and noticed one thing.  The teacher isn’t very good in pronounciation.  For Chinese, whether or not ‘h’ is used, is very important.  For example, ’sao’ vs ’shao’, ’si’ vs ’shi’.

As I use pinyin method to key-in Chinese words with a computer, I more or less can claim that my pinyin (pronounciation) is quite good.  And I listened to one of his lesson for a while, couldn’t tahan my kpc character, checked the dictionary and confirmed he was wrong.

He was teaching the student, wrong from right!  The song that I listened-in was 庭院深深.  The phrase was ”多少的往事”.  The student actually sang it right (少=”shao”, 事=”shi”), but he ‘corrected’ her from “shao” to “sao”, and from “shi” to “si”.

He kept using the VCD to show her the ‘right’ way.  Ya, I know, the singer in the VCD didn’t pronounce it correctly, but I wonder what’s the purpose of the classes?  I know he is a regular judge in many singing contests, and if he thinks the ‘correct’ way should be the VCD way, then I think those singing contests should be called ‘Singer Copy Cat Contests’.

Just my thought.  A KPC thought.  :P
