Birth Timing
Between Ian and Isabel’s birth day (day of the week), I think Ian’s timing is much better.
Ian was born on a Wednesday, discharged on Friday. When I was still in the hospital, I had so many visitors and many bouquet of flowers/hampers, all from my company and suppliers. That’s because my hospital stay was during weekdays.
Then, the 12th day fell on a Sunday. All the yee-mah-gu-zhe, came to visit and have the vinegar pork leg. Very happening and merry. And the full-moon fell on weekend too, which gives convenient to all who invited to the party.
But this poor Isabel, was born on a Friday - some more end of the office hour. I only received a bouquet of flower from DH’s company. No visitor at all. Very lonely in the hospital (the good thing is I could rest). All gifts came in to my mom’s house, but I have to spend the effort explaining how to get there.
BTW, of all the things I received, I love the Patchi chocolate gift pack that my boss arranged most. This is something that I wouldn’t buy myself, coz the chocolates are so so so expensive! Now I can have the whole pack to eat by my own! Really drooling to have them - am keeping them for after confinement.
Anyway, back to the topic. Today is the 12th day, the day to have vinegar pork leg. NO ONE will be visiting, coz it is a weekday. I don’t mind, coz I prefer to rest, but just feel a bit awkward, comparing the two.
And I think the fullmoon will fall on a weekday too. Not sure how MIL wants to do it. To do in advance, or later, on weekend? I haven’t decided to hold a party or not. I am not a party lover. The last time was done to make MIL happy. If I can choose, I’d rather give out gift packs to those who send something - I really love those modern gift packs, which provides something for the receiver to keep and admire (something like Isabel’s photo card). Hahaha! ![]()

but I dun mind receiving gift packs though… LOL!
Lucky you, still a lot of prezzies. For me, 1st one loads & loads of hampers, gifts & ang pows but 2nd one, everything dwindled to less than 10
My poor girl, ang pow also very little. Btw, care to share the chocs
Aiyah, I also felt big differences for my 1st and 2nd born… when I had Ivan there were so many people visiting, and much more hampers. With Izac… practically no one came (as it’s near CNY and most people pantang) and hamper ah… only 2 *sob*… poor sailo
Over here hor.. only presents during baby shower.. after that.. only grandparents will buy gifts.. bummer eh..??
vinegar pork leg…. my saliva is flowing…
egghead: LOL! OK, if I do that…
Lin: Haha! If you see the gifts for my 1st born… What I have now is almost half of that only. I think I’ve got at least 5 to 8 bottles of Dome the last time. Hampers or bouquet, around 8 to 10. It is like that one lah, 2nd one is less excited already. But I think the timing has also got to do with this.
Sue: Hehehe! People only got excited with the first mah. Like the Cantonese saying “San Si Hang” (new toilet bowl).
Mamabok: Hehe, can’t compare, hor?
Yiwen: Yummy! vinegar pork leg is also good to boost breastmilk production.
If you come to visit during my confinement, let me know in advance, I’ll get my mom to cook more for you. Hahaha! But don’t think you’ll make it soon, right?
I think 2nd child memang less fuss kot. When I had DD, I hardly got a wink of sleep due to the amount of people coming in to visit me. Now with DS, there are still some really close friend who are yet to drop by to see him and he’ll be turning 4 mth end of this month! In regards to the Patchi’s…aren’t they divine? DH finished mine while I was asleep…Grrr.
mummy2sarah: hehe, re Patchi, until now I still sayang to open them. I just look and look and look.
I haven’t tried even a single piece before.
Anyway, it is so expensive, I think the small basket actually has around 10 pcs only. The rest are little soft toys. Maybe one person a piece and that’s it, I think.
