Busy Hospital

Or is it busy birth year/month/day???

When I registered at the labour ward, I was told there is no room for me.  They could only put me on monitoring first.  So good business?

They told me there are 12 labour rooms, only 10 can be used (I think the other 2 are suite).  And all the 10 are occupied!

After Isabel was born, it took them nearly 4 hours to get me a bed in postnatal ward.  I was left in the labour room till very late.  And there was no single room available.  They put me in double bed room.

At first I thought I probably would settle with this arrangement, but there is really no privacy at all.  People walked in and out, checking/peeping through the curtain whether I am their friend or not.  Door opened and shut loudly everytime they opened, and woke Isabel/me up whenever we wanted or almost fall asleep.

First night, I practically had zero sleep at all.  On Saturday, by around 4pm, I couldn’t stand it any more.  I checked with the nurse and they got me a single room!  Immediately after I was transferred to the room, both Isabel and I finally fell asleep - soundly! for 2 hours!!!  I was so glad finally they got me a single room.  :)

Oh, BTW, the nurses told me, all babies born on the day Isabel arrived, are GIRLS!  Interesting, right?

Hahaha, they say this year is a good year to have babies…I had to wait 6 hours to get a room and when I was nicely settled inside, to my horror, a man entered the room and asked if I was ready for physio 6 hours after I gave birth! Seems that because of insufficient rooms, they had to simply place patients wherever available to accomodate them. Poor man, had to go hunt around for his physio patient! Lol.

Same with me, the hospital I went was fully occupied except a 2 bedded- room only. So I took the room, and luckily the patient checked out when I was wheeled in after delivery, and new patient only come in when I almost checked out. It’s a single room with cheaper price!
BTW, you room in with Isabel all the time right? How’s your bf? Going well?

your last paragraph really amaze me LOL… the buddist believe that the God of Mercy have aship to send the baby, and sometime they will say if the ship is all girls then all the babies born on tht day will be girls.

so apparently tht day was a “baby girl shipment”.

egghead: emergency? how do they consider emergency - I thought all of us wanted to labour already are in emergency, can’t wait! :P

      mama2jojo: thanks! :)

mummy2sarah: I just read from a magazine, the author also gave birth on a busy day, and the hospital just couldn’t accommodate her, and she had to go to government hospital out of no choice, eventhough she visited the gynae in the private one. Thank God that I don’t have to go through that. :)

huisia: well, I think their friend changed room or what not, they couldn’t find their friend. They should check at the counter first, right? :)

shoppingmum: Ya, my 1st night was me alone occupying a double room, but people keep zooming in, that annoyed me a lot. No privacy and too noisy. :P

maria: haha, that’s a girl’s day. But I wonder what other hospitals like…

Lin: Thanks! I actually made announcement in MMB leh! But didn’t log in after that lah! The site is getting very slow to load after the upgrade. But I will check it out soon. Cheers!
