Noodle King

Published by suzette at 10:15 am under All,Ian

Well, this Noodle King is not a restaurant that sells noodles. This Noodle King is my son, Ian.

He likes all sorts of noodles: fat noodle, wanton noodle, udon, soba, ramen, meehoon (vermicelli), spaghetti, linguini, etc. And he likes it in whatever format noodles are cooked: soup, fried, konlou (dark sauce), bolognaise, etc.

If we have to eat out, to make him eat without force, I have to order noodle for him. But it would be very stressful for me. This would be the scene:
—-
When the bowl of noodle arrives…

Ian: * excitedly * Mian, mian, mian, mian, mian (mian = noodle in Mandarin)

Suz: Wait, mama cut it first (he can’t handle long noodles)

Ian: Mian, mian, mian, mian, mian

Suz: Wait, wait, mama cut it first. You see, mama cut, cut, cut

Ian: Mian, MIAN, MIAN, MIAN, MMIIIIIAAAAANNNN, MMIIIIIAAAAANNNN!!!!!
(SCREAMING till the whole restaurants’ guests are looking)

Suz: OK, OK, you eat this first whilst mama continue cutting the rest.

Ian: * very fast finished whatever given* Mian, mian, mian, MIAN, MIIIAAAN, MMIIIIAAAANNNNN!!!!!!

Suz: * sweating in stress * Next time I should bring the scissor out, easier to cut these noodles. Wait, wait…

DH: You said that every time, but you still forget to bring the scissors out.

Ian: Mian, Mian, MIAN, MMIIIAAAN, MMIIIIIIAAAAANNNN!!!!!

Wooh! That’s how stressful I always am, whenever I let Ian eat noodle, especially outside. If let him eat noodle at home, I can at least hide it in the kitchen, cut them all short with scissors, before exposing to him.

And for occasions if I have already prepared food for him at home, I better not order any noodle if I myself have to eat out. Last weekend I learnt a lesson. At the end, he ate my noodle in the shop, and I had to eat his porridge at home. :p

egghead: ya, I was cutting it with fork and spoon, but his speed is faster than my cutting speed. Basically, he doesn’t want any waiting time, not even a second! Whew! Very stressful, think of it also makes me sweat! :p

jason: hehe, actually MIL also told me that. I always forgot i have that option also. :p

mamaBok: Aiyoh, even chocolate also don’t want ah… then really difficult. Actually it is really difficult to get Ian to eat also, but at least there are a few items he really likes, like the snacks and noodles. :)
