Food Poisoning

Published by suzette under All, Mumbles

I previously thought I was having serious morning sickness.

Later, confirmed it was food poisoning.

I was on leave on Monday, had some of the outside food and had an ice-blended stuff. At night, coz it was DH’s birthday, we had a marshmallow cake. So much of junks that I ate that day.

So, on Tuesday, after lunch, I threw out for the first time. I thought I was having morning sickness. But then it was coupled with mild diarrhea.

Saw doctor the same day, and he said if got diarrhea then cannot be morning sickness.

I had MC on Wed, rested but still had diarrhea and vomit. In the evening, DH brought me to Sushi King (I wanted to eat that), and I asked for a lot of ginger.

After eating the ginger, I burped a lot. Then, after that started to feel better. I even packed some ginger home. :p

Thursday morning, felt much better, but still not fully recovered yet. So glad that by end day, I was fully recovered. Otherwise I’m not sure how I could make it to Nexus Karambunai ler…

Not sure whether my pregnancy is easier (no serious morning sickness), or was it ‘removed’ from me as a result of my desperate praying on Wednesday. Thank God that it is gone now…

Karambunai Trip – Day 1 (Friday 21 Oct)

Published by suzette under All, Ian, Traveling

Here is a detail of our trip to Nexus Karambunai Resort last weekend.

Traveling with Ian is many times harder than traveling alone. I started packing for Ian since one week ago, and 3/4 of my luggage was stuffed with his stuff. His diaper already occupied nearly 1/4 of the space. His carton milk takes up another 1/4. His swimming gears, clothes etc occupied another 1/4. Left with only 1/4 for my stuff – so kesian me…

And where to place his potty? He needs his potty to poo-poo every time, and he is not yet trained to use the toilet bowl. Finally stuffed his potty into the diapering bag as my hand luggage (can you imagine that?). The diapering bag actually has only 2 pieces of diapers, and others are quite embarrassing: 1 potty, 1 book, 4-5 toys, 1 loaf of cake, 1 pack of Ian’s favorite crackers, 1 bolster, 1 bottle of milk, 1 bottle of water, 1 bottle of vit C, etc. These are essentials to get Ian calm down…

We departed at 11:30am. Our flight was 2:15pm, but had to fetch another 2 colleagues of DH.

Ian was very excited seeing the airplane. This time he was even more excited than the last KK trip. He didn’t want to sleep in the flight. He was very excited and kept looking out of the window, jumping up and down, laughing out loud by himself, saying “air, air…”, disturbing front and back passengers, etc.

He didn’t want me to close the window, not even for a second. Around 40 min before we arrived KK airport, he was too tired and slept. When we woke him up to leave the plane, the moment his eyes opened, he quickly jumped up and towards the windows wanted to check the view again. So excited!

Then, when we got down the plane, he kept crying coz he didn’t want to leave!

After checking out, we went to KK town for seafood dinner. We were recommended this place called “双天”. The seafood was fresh and nicely done – sorry no photos because too occupied with Ian.

We ordered so much food that we couldn’t finish all:

  • Crab
  • Prawns
  • Another type of prawns 濑尿虾 (very big ones, like lobster)
  • Fish
  • 2 types of snails (with and without shell - dunno why so many snail dishes)
  • Oyster fries
  • 2 veggies
  • Seafood soup (海鲜羮)
  • Satay
  • Dumplings
  • 3 plates of fruits
  • Err… I can’t remember what else we ordered. I was too occupied with Ian, in fact I didn’t enjoy the dinner due to the yelling and fussy toddler. I think it was all that we ordered gua…

Anyway, that meal cost how much? Anyone to guess? I will reveal it in my next post – if you keen to guess, leave a comment, but no prize for the correct answer. :p

Hint: (1) we have 13 adults and 1 toddler; (2) we felt it was very expensive, but my boss thought it was cheap; (3) after comparing with the hotel food, I now think it was reasonable.

After the dinner, we went straight to the hotel where the lousy experience awaited us. For detail, read my previous post.

    Nexus Karambunai – Overview

Published by suzette under All, Traveling

Last Friday I took a day off, joined my husband’s company trip to Nexus Karambunai resort.

It was a very nice resort, with a very beautiful beach and next to a jungle. The seawater was blue in colour, the beach was only with sand – you won’t find shells here but it also means that you don’t get those spikes that poke your feet when you walk on the beach. The beach was so clean that you can hardly find any rubbish. The scene is just so breathtaking. I love the place.

It is about 30-min drive from KK town, but the taxi charges were expensive. Well, in fact, everything was expensive there, from food to transport to activities etc.

But I really liked that environment. One thing that is very nice, but can be quite annoying, is the bird singing.

The birds wake up very early in the morning (around 5am??), and starts singing or kehpohing. The sound was so loud and near to our windows, which you can hardly ignore them. When you wake up, you can see whole bunch of birds chatting, singing and playing – everywhere!

What can you do there? Well, if you are willing to spend and has the cash to spend, there are quite a lot of activities. But since they are way too expensive for me (and I don’t see it worthy), I didn’t join any of the activities at all.

Actually I was keen to join the mangrove cruise, but it costs RM70 per person for 1 hour. Imagine the two of us would have cost RM140 already. Some more, don’t know what I will be getting from the cruise. But this seems the only thing that I could do, with Ian around…

And Island Hopping is RM160 per person! Whew! How to afford – two of us would be RM320 already!

I quite like spa, but then the spa tariff is just not worthy. For a Borneo Spa (1.5 hour), it costs RM278. The foot reflexology alone costs RM78 for 30 min – I can get it at RM30 for 40 min over here.

Anyway, one thing I would definitely complain about the place is… Well, it has a very good product (nice beach and place), but there is no service. I emphasize: not “poor service”, but “no service”.

When we arrived late at night, around 8:30pm, we were left at the lobby with no porters to carry our luggage and no one to even speak or check with us.

After DH checked in for everyone and got the key, we were left alone, with no sense of direction of our rooms. Our luggage was still left on the ground.

I had a baby stroller, a trolley bag (3/4 of it was stuffed with Ian’s goods), a diapering bag, and a baby to carry. DH carried a backpack and he had to sort out things for his company.

We waited for 20 minutes, and then I got furious and demanded to know where was our room. Finally someone came to pick us up with a mini van. Yes, our rooms were so far away and needed a ride!

Actually I did some research before going, so I knew which direction we were supposed to go. What we booked was the Ocean Wing (with sea view). The moment we were driven towards the other direction, I knew something was wrong.

After checking with the driver, we were told that we were ‘free upgraded’ to Borneo Wing. Hey, this was really a con game. So called upgrade was actually putting us far away from the main area (where pool and beach are), and all our rooms were garden (or road) facing. The room that I got was even worse – we had two single beds, which we definitely can’t sleep with Ian.

So, we went back and checked with the front desk, it took them another 30-40 min to get all of us transferred back to the Ocean Wing with sea view. In the meantime, Ian needed his potty for poo-poo, which made the situation even worse. I was sweating all over the place.

By the time we settled in, it was already 10:30pm, time for Ian to sleep. But we had not bathed! After bathing, it was already over 11pm. We were so tired, but also hungry.

The hotel sales girl was very apologetic and promised to buy all of us (actually only 13 adults) a drink and some supper at the lounge. Since we were hungry, I didn’t care it was Ian’s sleep time (he was also excited lah!), we joined the supper.

By the time Ian and I went back to sleep, was already 12 midnight.

Such a poor experience. But I believe the organizer (DH), is also not very experienced lah. If it were me who checked in earlier, I would have made sure we got the room type we booked. And during booking, he didn’t specify what types of beds, therefore cannot blame the hotel for giving us two single beds! Since he is not a frequent traveler, have to give chance… :)

    Public Holiday Hoax

Published by suzette under All, Mumbles

This morning, after the news of Endon’s demise, I received this email claiming that Monday (24 oct) is declared a public holiday.

Without thinking much, I forwarded to my boss (luckily I claimed that I haven’t verified it).

Immediately, her sharp eyes spotted grammar mistakes and told me it must be a hoax.

The email (HTML news format) says:

    October 20, 2005 08:27 AM
Datin Seri Endon Mahmood Passes Away

PUTRAJAYA, Oct 20 (Bernama) — Prime Minister’s wife Datin Seri Endon Mahmood passed away at 7.55 am Thursday at the Prime Minister’s official residence Seri Perdana Putrajaya, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi told Bernama. It has been officially announced and confirmed that on 24th of October 2005 would be declared as a public holiday.

    – BERNAMA

    Grammar mistakes:
    1. “that on 24th of October” - ‘on’ should not be used
    2. “announced and confirmed… would be declared…”. If it is announced and confirmed, it should be “is declared”

So, conclusion: either the news reporter has lousy English, or the last sentence was added by someone!

I checked from various sources, no such news was announced. Furthermore, it doesn’t make sense at all, declaring the holiday on next Monday. Why not make it today or tomorrow? Right?

    Throwing Out

Published by suzette under All, Isabel

Just thrown out for the first time in this pregnancy.
I feel very lousy. The throat’s burning sensation is disturbing me.
I hope it stops now, no more vomit any more.
I thought I have been controlling it well, but still cannot tahan anymore.

I hate reading from the computer coz it makes me more dizzy.
I have no choice but to stop blog reading for a while.
I will still try posting articles. I will still try…

When I had Ian, I threw out only once, that was before I have tested positive.

I am very tired now. Sigh, another telecon at 8:30pm today, how to do that har?
