Malacca Trip
Last weekend my whole in-law’s family went to Layang-Layang (somewhere ‘near’ Kluang) for a wedding dinner. To make the trip sound more interesting, we have decided to spend the Saturday night in Malacca.
We arrived at the Century Mahkota quite late after the dinner, nearly 11pm. We got a 3-room apartment, which was quite disappointing: we spent the whole night requesting things to be fixed. Until 1am, we were still waiting for the maintenance dept to fix the air-con in one of the rooms – it was stuffy and hot!
Anyway, Jason recommended the big pao in 荣茂茶室 for breakfast. According to him, the pao is very popular and is likely to be finished by 9am. He asked me to go early (like 6-7am) if I really want to try.
What happened was, we were all so tired and only woke up at 9am. By the time we went out for breakfast, it was nearly 10am already. We have decided to forego the big-pao, but somewhat it was destined that we had to have breakfast there, after making circles in the Malacca town.
Hey, the pao was still available at that hour. Luckily I didn’t wake everybody up so early! They still have as many pao as you want. Jason wanted to blog about the pao, so I’ll keep ‘quiet’ for now.
After the breakfast, everyone were having such a good mood to walk around the street (at midday?!). I just lost my mood due to the super hot weather. I hate the sun like that. I just felt burnt/ toasted alive.
When we were back to the apartment at 12:15pm, we managed to spend some very short time at the pool, where Ian refused to leave when times-up!
On the way back to KL, there was a little incidence at one of the rest area. When I was queuing in the toilet, due to the narrow space between the toilet cubicles, we actually queued in the manner similar to the back – i.e. we maintained a 1-line queue outside the toilet area, and whenever there is an empty cubicle available the first people in the line will take it.
However, when it was nearly my turn, there was a bunch of middle aged/ old ladies rushed into the toilet. They just walked to the front of each cubicle and waited there.
I was quite angry (because my bladder was so full that I can have ‘accident’ any time!), and I stopped them by asking them not to jump-queue. One of them just ignored me and said, “What jump-queue? No one is queuing here, why should I be so stupid like you standing so far?”
And then she just turned her face away from me. Encouraged by her reaction, her ‘gang’ all just ignored me and rushed forward. So, instead of me getting the next turn, I had to wait for the whole bunch of them (10?)!
They are really kurang ajar (没家教). I am not the type that knows how to fight back, but when I told SIL about this, immediately she said I should have do this do that, say this say that. Sigh! Too late. But still feel geram.
Anyway, back to the trip, MIL fell sick immediately after we reached home. So, today I have to work from home and get my mom’s help to look after Ian. Multi-tasking today.

so Jason’s map made you all went round circles in Malacca??
hmmm… will hit him later!
as for the toilet thingy… well… these people exist every where… ugly Malaysians again!
egghead: no lah, got to explain a bit. We went around circles because we couldn’t decide what to eat ler. We stopped at one shop then no tables, then moved on to another shop but no parking. Went on and on until we parked our car and decided to walk along the street. Then, suddenly I saw the shop Jason recommended on my right! I didn’t follow his map but managed to get there. Isn’t it destined? :p
Ya, the toilet thingy, sometimes feel ashamed too. unfortunately these ‘auntie’ never bother, very selfish type of people.
I hope it tastes as good as I mentioned. Else there goes all my food reviews and reputations.
10AM still got big pau? Hmm, then I must be unlucky the other day.
didn’t go for satay celup keh?? hehe…I won forget this every time to Malacca ler…
pool time always the best time for our kids ler..if possible I think they wanna to play at pool for a long day ler…
it happen to me too, but then I garang a bit, I just hold the girls went stand infront of the person who jump Q, and told her I came before her.
Happen here too.. not only in malaysia.. and ppl are just plain ignorant.. i tell ya.. ! my experience is not the toilet.. but check out counter.. ! it is frustrating.. at times.. but i refuses to fight about it.. let them be.. i tell myself.. what they do to others.. will come round one day.
jason: Actually my BIL likes it very much. As for me, I lost my appetite after the first bite, probably due to morning sickness. Ian ate a lot of the pao skin.
msau: satay celup is for night time, right? we arrived too late on Sat and left too learly on Sun, so – nope, we didn’t have it.
maria: you very brave lah! I am useless one when comes to fights. I sure is a loser one ler…
bigbok: wah! You have so good EQ lah!
