Suffering From Teething (Part 2)
I think Ian’s gum infection is infectious. I have been continue breastfeeding him, no stop. And last few days, I noticed one blister on my right side. The next day, there were additional 2 blisters on my left side. They look just like the ulcers in our mouth, deep round shape and very painful.
I ignored it in the past few days, and it has scarred. But this morning, it turned worse because when I was feeding Ian, the scar was terkopek (pulled away). I felt sharp pain in the midst of feeding. When the session ended, I found the blister’s hole is deepened, enlarged and it was bleeding.
This is the worst pain I had, I even bit myself to withhold the pain, leaving a deep teeth bite mark now.
DH asked me to wean Ian completely at this stage.
One part of my heart says no, but the other part says yes. I am struggling. Oh God! Please give me the wisdom to decide!
Update:
Err! As I examined myself just now, the 4th blister is forming on the left now! I have 3 at the left side. Errrkkk! Very painful!

Wah!! this is much worse than my son bitting on his mother’s nipple sometimes during breastfeed!!
go call your doctor immediately before “it” causes further infection!!
I better not imagine it.
Better go see doctor for check up.
did you put any lanolin cream on it? last time I also had to wean Jean because the cracks wouldn’t heal… if you wish to BF further, i think you need to stop temporarily to let it heal completely, then resume BF.
DG: I had milk blisters before, which too 3-4 weeks to heal, but is not this serious, at least it was not infectious. This one, it is getting worse by days. From 1 blister, to 2, then to 3 then today got 4 already.
Egghead: This is not normal sore nipples. The biting thingy I can tahan, but this is very bad. I’ll see doc tonight.
Jason: Thanks, I’ll see doc tonight, cannot bear it any further…
Poor thing..!! hope you and ian get well soon..!
see doctor you must.
When Ethan was around 2 1/2 months old, my nipples cracked til it bled. From that point, I’ve breastfed him solely, but I had no choice but to switch to formula. He rejected the bottle even when he was hungry. At first I thought that he didn’t like the formula, so I pump milk and feed it to him, it didn’t work either. It was the plastic nipple that he rejected. After a whole day only did he gave up and suck on it. I did pump milk regularly but somehow, my milk production was reduced. Even after my breast healed, my baby had to depend on formula for his main course. And now, it’s just his dessert.
You have to let your breast heal, or else it will worsen. Since Ian has no problem having the bottle, there should be no problem on his part. The decision whether to wean or not, it’s yours to make.
