Carting in Houston
One of the items in our agenda in Houston team meeting was ‘Team Building’. To be more exact, it should be called ‘Entertainment’! LOL.
The ‘team building’ activity was actually go-cart. I did that once before, back in KL. I know I am not good at this. I am just so scared of the speed and corner, though I am an F1 fan for many years. But then, I still joined for team and sporting spirit.
I must say that the facility in the go-cart center in Houston is different. They are INDOOR and offer full equipments (not those type in KL that you pay for every pieces of item you ‘rent’). The equipments include face sheet, helmet, suit and shoes. But none of us took the suit, just so scared of other people’s sweat lah!
The game went on this way: we split into two groups of 6, each group ran 12 minutes for practice and set up best lap time. Then, we raced based on position – the fastest 6 drove for 25 minutes, followed by the next 6 players for 25 min.
My boss was on the 1st group as me. She and another American lady were so slow that we overtook them many times. They were the slowest two of all. But, I am nothing better, I was the last 3rd! LOL!
Then in the 2nd round, my boss and that lady quit, I became the last in my group of 4. But this time, I was much faster, from 33 sec a lap improved to 27 sec. But I was still so slow that everyone else lapped me!
We only played for 10 min, as requested by everyone. I guess this would be my last cart racing, unless there are free ones again in the future. I am just so lousy in this. I won’t play to play lah!
Oh, BTW, after the race, our faces were BLACK! The indoor setup must have trapped the exhaust and splashed it on our faces. Mine was so black that I spent 15 min in the toilet just to wipe it with paper!
I even havent went near to any Cart-Race track yet!

egghead; wow, never thought of that also. but she was so slow… imagine I was the 3rd from last, everyone else were driving at 23 to 26 sec per lap, and my lap time was 33 sec, her lap time was 48 sec! Hmm… I admit that I was not sensitive enough to her lah… :p
ooooooooohhhhhhh..!! i love karting.. aplenty..!! but the nearest one is like a few hours away.. and these day with my brat.. we donch go far..!!
