Why Host My Own Domain?
This is really unexpected and the idea is completely new to me. It all started with me asking 5xmom something totally unrelated. I emailed her and asked her questions related to Adsense.
Because of the limitations in Blogger, the discussion somewhat got side tracked, and we discussed about getting a site and a domain name. She told me it costs her RM200 per year, and I agree it is reasonable for a hobby. Imagine those golfer paying how much a year? Look at how much people spend a night in karaoke?
I got LiewCF to help out since I do not know anything about this at all. He registered my domain, hosts the site for me, and helped me to migrate all posts from my previous bloggers. It is really hassle free.
But the real problem came in only after that. I am really a computer idi*t. I struggled so much to get the template to my liking - it is still not! I have been playing with it for a few days already, almost give up. Probably I will ‘live’ in this mess for a while until I have the time to learn and sort it out. :p
I just hope this hobby can be sustained, so I won’t waste my money, effort and time to pursue this. :p
Oh, reasons why I want to have my own domain? Seriously, other than more flexibility to manage my posts and comments, I really can’t think of anything else, as I am really new in this. I just don’t like a few things with blogger:
1) Very difficult to change the layout to my liking. I’m just too dumb.
2) Very difficult to manage Adsense codes in one page. Again, I could be too stupid.
3) Can’t group my posts by the way I like.
4) Not flexible.
5) Comments are more difficult to manage.
According to 5xmom, WP is more flexible and can solve my problems. Hopefully it is, I need some time to try it out.
