First Flight with Ian

Published by Lazy Bone at 5:21 pm under All,Ian,Traveling

Saturday morning at 5am, I picked Ian up from bed, rushed to the airport to catch Air Asia’s 7am flight to KK. Upon checking in only realized we need Ian’s birth cert! Had to make a quick police report at the airport before the boarding pass is released to us. But luckily we still could do that! 有惊无险.

This is the first time I’m considered “Family with children under 12”, first time enjoying the privilege to board the plane first on economy class. So kiasu, I was the 1st to board this time. Hehehe!

We got a window seat for Ian, it was the first time he saw real airplanes from the window. Ian’s mouth opened like a big O most of the time. Very ‘suah ku’, like coming out from Kampong. Hahaha!

I insisted to use the infant’s seat belt for Ian. Being very kiasi (scared to die), I always follow those safety measures. Remember watching a documentary, during the plane crash where most of the adults were saved, those infants hold by mothers without safety belts, all were flown here and there, it took the rescue team so long to find the babies. Luckily Ian is well trained to use seat belts, so he was ok with that and in fact he finds it fun to play with the belts. :)

Soon after the plane took off, when the safety belt sign was off, Ian stood up and looked around. He was so happy, and even played peek-a-poo with other passengers at the back. It was a surprised because he always cry whenever sees strangers.

After a while when he got tired, almost during the whole journey, he slept and latched on. When unlatched he would scream and cry. In order not to disturb other passengers, I gave in, so I was a walking pacifier through out the flight! :p

On the way back from KK, he got so carried away with the journey. He played with the stewardess and other passengers. At one point, he even acted like the Spiderman – he climbed the seat all the way up! If we had not stopped him, I believe he can be toppled down to the back.

It was really fun seeing Ian onboard. Though it was tiring for me, I thought it was worthy seeing Ian happy.

Wah, so exciting for Ian. How much is the ticket to KK? I really want to go to KK one of these days. Must drive to KL then, fly to KK. Cannot afford all the way from Penang or else it will be more expensive than going to other countries.

5xmom: I can’t remember exactly (DH paying), it is in the region of RM320+ per adult (return trip), and only RM20 for Ian (RM10 one way). It was really worthy for children under 2yo, because MAS will cost at least RM400. As for adults, I think MAS’s fare is around RM650.

momof2: we also thought domestic no need ID, but they need document for checking in. Some more going to EM we need to go through immegresen, which needs either passport or IC (if IC have to fill up a form there). With MyKid card, I think it is sufficient.

5xmom: oh, I forgot to tell you, we booked the flight quite late, 1 week before the trip. I believe if you book much earlier, and if you choose Wed/Thu, the fare is around RM200 for adult.
